the following (in red) is cut and pasted from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.460_Rowland

Does it mean they are made by the same manufacturer?

I followed the [2] reference to: http://www.policechiefmagazine.org/magazine/?fuseaction=display_arch&article_id=2040&issue_id=32010, but the link to the full article keeps timing out.

Springfield XD / XDm, Glock-21 and Glock-30 auto-loaders and the Sig-Sauer Model 220 are all made by a single manufacturer so similar adjustments are not often needed when these guns are converted to fire the .460 Rowland.[2]

Don't trust wikipedia. That is a user generated source. Very unreliable. Any knuckle head can enter info on a subject.

While that's not nearly as correct as it once was, the base sentiment is absolutely sound.

Wikipedia is a horrible, mutable, bad, awful weathervane of a reference tool, in much the same way that USA Today is the Special Olympics of daily print periodicals. Bad sources, poor fact-checking, dumbed-down info.

That's not a "...don't use it..." so much as a "definitely fact-check Wiki using a source written to greater than a 4th-grade reading level."

Wikipedia is where people go when they're warming up to be the next Chuck Hawks. Take it with a giant grain of salt.

After reading the entire paragraph, I believe this is simply a very poorly worded sentence. I doubt the writer actually meant to suggest that a single maker produces all three of those brands of handgun.

This is what I think he meant to say: Only HS Produkt in Croatia makes XDs. Only Glock makes Glocks. Only SIG makes SIGs. So the respective kits for those guns typically fit better than the kit for 1911s, which can be made by any of a number of manufacturers, to different specifications and tolerances.

I used wikipedia all the time in college....to find sources. The list of source links at the bottom of each page is a great resource.

That is what I got as well. Be the hero, update the page! :p
