Just came in the mail today, my new Pelican case 1500. Great quality, fit a few pistols in there for now, definitely need to get a few more maybe even one for the long guns. Awesome quality with solid hinges and locks, the whole thing just feels right.

Keep in mind that the foam is open cell foam and it will hold moisture. These make great traveling cases, but not great storage cases.

^ of course, this is for travel and range trips not long term storage, especially in humid areas be careful.

Yikes... I never knew that.

So do you empty it completely each time you return?

That does look cool. I tried hard cases, but if you take a lot of guns to the range, they take up a lot of space (especially on long guns). I ended up with a bunch of flat padded cases. That would be the hot setup if you were flying.

I've got a pelican 1400...got it for $0. I ordered 2 satellite phones for my contract in Iraq. Ordered 2 pelican 1400's, but was shipped and invoiced for only 1! Total score. I've got my glock in there but am about to run to grainger to get some closed cell foam. I love my pelican cases...got tons of them for various reasons...

Anyone know of any pull n pluck type closed cell foam that could be purchased to replace the open cell?
The stuff at Grainger will work, ill just have to cut it myself.

If I bought one of these I would want to store the Pistols in it full time.
(No Safe Yet)

You need closed cell for full time storage

I would strongly advise you to save for a safe (even a small one) if you do not have one. Just one man's opinion though...

And it doesn't alter the flavor of your smokes at all? I know some guys use coolers in the summer, but I would never have thought of using a pleican case.

I would love to see a picture :big_boss:

pelican offers many of their cases with polystyrene instead of open cell foam.

The disadvantage is less shock absorbance. I don't think it matters with pistols.

I'm eying one of those Single M9 cases.
