she hated the fiber optic sights on it, and wanted it to be "more hers" so i sent it off for fire engine red cerakote and some heinie sights

I feel your pain brother, my girl asked if I could do the pink camo on her HK P 30!
Not my style, but if she likes it, then I like it.
Would fit right in at a USPSA match.
A gun with a red slide in her hands, or on her hip, in her purse, whatever, is better than no gun at all. Good sights, too.

Glad your wife likes it. I am able every now and then to get my wife to the range and put some rounds through her G19. If getting the slide colored would get my wife to the shooting range more, then I would do it.
Just do not buy a SIRT trainer now.

For the record, I didn't intend it as a knock on the gun...women have their fetishes and sometimes you have to run with that. My wife is totally committed to German 226s and that will probably never change, even when she shoots other guns a little better.
It's just a comment...that gun can't be around a SIRT gun. Not the end of the world, just something to consider.

She HATES pink and didn't want a "girly" gun but loves red so thats the way we went. like everyone said i'm blessed to have a wife that likes to shoot, she didn't like her sites and wanted to personalize her gun, i'm all for it. it also gives me another excuse to buy another g19 for me ;)

Yeah, my assumption was that someone with your forum title knew this perfectly well...the comment was more aimed at others that might look at it and not be familiar with the SIRT. In your case you probably have access to a number of Glocks that could be used for training so to have one that has its own special requirement is probably not a big deal. I mean my 1911s must be kept away from salt, so I just do that. When I dryfire, my guns must be kept away from ammo, so I just do that. A Glock with a red slide just has to be treated correctly and obviously you're likely to be someone in the loop and safety-conscious enough to make it a non-issue for you.
But there are probably people who should keep that in mind if considering a red slide for their Glock. Or for anyone who might have a red slide on their Glock already, it's probably worth making yourself aware of the existence of the SIRT pistols.

Bro you should always verify clear and safe to ANY gun sert or not. Sim, etc doesn't matter a habit is a habit, the color of the gun should make no diference. I have pages of instances where Leo and mil have shot their partners or friends with assumed clear weapons. Anyways now that we have beaten to death the fact that my wife's glock looks like a type of training pistol lets move one
The cerekote looks great! I have been debating cerekoting a Glock slide for a while now. May I ask where you sent it? looks like a quality job.

You guys are bums. My girlfriend just had her USP-C (ended up selling the PPQ, and now she's back to her trusty old USP) frame done in OD so it looks like the USP Custom Combat guns now. (But compact, and with a threaded barrel.)
She's also discovered that a striker fired gun will never work for her.
