Q:What is the shelf life of ammo and storage?

A:Store reloading components and ammunition in a cool, dry place, protected from direct exposure to sunlight. If stored properly there is a 10-year shelf life on loaded ammunition.

One key figure: Olin does $618 million in sales per year, and their backlog is $311 million... over a half a year's worth of sales.

"Other slang or shorthand in the above story does not indicate a lack of knowledge about the topic."

Yes, it does. Only an ignoramus calls .357 ".38 Magnum" or refers to .22LR as ".22 long." That's not slang or shorthand. That's just wrong.

Third paragraph.

"Here's my theory."

At least when it comes to lead-free primers, they do have about a 10-year shelf life. They have hydroscopic properties which cause them to absorb moisture from the outside air(even air in the casing), to the point that the primer will not detonate.

Anyone buying ammo as a speculative investment is an idiot.

Ammo isn't limited to 21M rounds. Companies can just keep making the stuff, unlike Bitcoin.

And when did people start taking Bitcoin seriously? Back when I was mining 8-10 BTC per day, people laughed and ridiculed us.

I wanted to punch that fellow in the mouth every time he used the word 'bullets'...
