I was in my local LGS for the 1st time in about a month and was surprised to see they now have 5 or 6 Glocks and several AR's in inventory - maybe things are returning to normal. They had a new Gen 4 G22 for $519. I asked the guy what he would give me for my Gen 3 G22 in trade and unseen he said $300. Then I asked if they would install my AmeriGlo night sights on the new Glock if I made the trade and they said sure. So I go out to my vehicle and get my maybe 12 year old Gen 3 with 5000 rounds through it and a significant amount of CCW and IDPA action and made the deal. Gave them the 1 magazine I had with me and the old G22 and for $233 I was out the door with my new Gen 4 with AmeriGlo night sights and the 3 mags that it came with (this should put me at about 25 Glock 40 mags accumulated over the past 20 years:dance3:). I'm feeling like I got a great deal.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a really fair deal. Nice to have a new CCW.

Certainly not a bad deal. I just picked up a new blue label gen 4 G23 with three mags for $425. I bought three more mags for an extra $90 and added Trijicon HD sights for $108.00. I'm digging he new gen4 40's.

Yeah, I'd say you got a good deal. I don't like the grip texture on the gen 4 though.

I put 115 rounds through the new G4 G22 today. It was a mix of cheap Winchester white box FMJ and my carry Speer Gold Dot - no isues at all. I also mounted a SureFire X300 on the G22 as that was the primary reason I wanted the gen 4. My gen 3 would stovepipe periodically with a weapon light mounted. No issues at all with it muonted on the gen 4.

The gun was tight when pulling the slide back; I'm very used to my previous well broken in G22 and I could tell the new double recoil spring is stiffer.

I do like the rougher grip on the gen 4 as it's not slick if I have oil or sweat on my hands.

You were getting stovepipes with an X300? I thought it was only the tlr-1s that were causing stove pipes.

Any weapon mounted light on a gen 3 40 caliber can induce periodic stove pipes. Mine would with with my X300 and X400. My understanding is that correcting the issue with weapon mounted lights on the 40 gen 3 was glocks main impetus for the gen 4 design.

If experiencing WML issues... If your light uses a screw-down clamp, back it off a little. Then, new RSA, 180gr standard velocity ammo, solid grip, 11 coil mag springs.

Hmm I have a chance to purchase my Gen 3 G22 when we get Gen 4s in the near future. I was thinking about making it a project gun and chopping the grip to 23 length, undercutting the trigger guard and throwing my wml on it to replace my G19. So if I don't run the wml tight I should be good to go?

Without the WML on mine I don't believe my Gen 3 Glock 22 ever had a stoppage through approximately 5000 rounds. With the Surefire on it would stove pipe 5% of the time with various ammo and mags.
