Why the switch?
What's wrong with the A2 flash hider?

Why the switch?
What's wrong with the A2 flash hider?

All but two of my ARs have A2s.. big A2 fan here.. but I figured since I'm going all out on this build, I may as well throw a BCM MOD 0 comp on it... I have the upper, grip, and CH from them already..

If you meant why the switch from the C4 to the REV? Because the REV is lighter, slimmer, looks nicer, gives me 2" of extra real estate, and I never use my 3 and 9 o'clock rails anyway.

Where did you find those Seekings controls at? (bolt catch, Mag release)
Thanks. I love that Fortis rail too. How does it feel?

I put e-mail notifications in at Ranier and picked them up when they came in. Bought extras for future builds - I like the idea of a machined bolt catch rather than a cast one.

The Fortis rail is joy. It feels slimmer and lighter than my Daniel Defense MFR. In fact, it's so light it seems to be made of an alien alloy of some sort, and it has rails just where I need them and no where else. Installation was super easy and it was affordable. If I had one complaint, is that it's just a little tall. When doing a thumbover, I notice I have to stretch a bit more than usual. It really is a marvel of engineering though. I've been very impressed with all three Fortis products that I've been using.

Yup I have to notice sent to rainier too. They do have that rail in stock now. The 12" for $199 Thanks for the info

I'd leave that A2 where its at. When an A2 is $8 and does everything I ask it, a $100 plus muzzle device is less appealing.

Keep in mind I have owned a battle comp.

Other than that its a really clean build. I like it.

No problem. Good luck.

I probably will just keep the A2. I think I just want to use my reaction rod. :D Thanks... it looks heavy but the balance is superb.

You have an ambidextrous mag-release... but only 1 side of the BAD levers...?

It's a good looking gun no doubt -- Fortis rail looks very cool. Report back when you actually shoot it.

I didn't get the BAD for it's ambidextrousness, I got it for the 45 degree throw and machined steel construction. I have a 90 degree full on ambidextrous BAD-ASS on my pistol and even with the small thin lever on the right side, it digs into my hand when placed into fire mode. I have large hands and I prefer a high grip.

Thanks for the compliments. Will report back after I get back from the range. The Fortis Rail was straighter than the C4 - the windage problem I had on the factory-installed rail is now non-existent. It's a magnificent rail at any price. A real steal for the $220 or whatever that it costs.

So then what did you get the Norgon ambi mag-release for?

I said I don't like ambi safeties digging into my hand - an ambi mag-catch doesn't bother me.

Nice Rifle

Thanks! She's currently my pride and joy.

Any reason for running the handstop kit backwards?

I ran it the "right way" on my C4 rail on the same rifle and on my DDM4V1 as well. I couldn't find a space on the rail that would keep that large hook from rubbing my pinky raw after extended shooting trips. I found the smaller stop to work better for indexing and by putting the larger stop on backwards, I now have a mono-pod/barrier-hook at the end of the rail - very useful for steadying the rifle by increasing the negative pressure when braced against barricades.

The standard A2 fh is excellent as it is but I'd recomend the FSC556. I recently made the switch and it's been nothing short of amazing for fast followup shots. To save a bit of cash you can find them used for about $66-80 depending on the condition.

I've considered it... After a trip to the range last night, I think the A2 is fine. It's not the lightest rifle (although not as heavy as it looks), shoots smooth as butter, and has plenty of real-estate out front for me to grab onto to help control muzzle rise. Until they come out with something revolutionary, I think I'm sticking with A2s on my 14.5-20" guns and linear comps on my 11.5" and below. Thanks for the suggestion though.
