View Full Version : M&P Shield Apex carry kit
I just picked up a a shield and was wondering if anyone has experience with the apex carry kit?
Best upgrade for shield I found...next to throwing Trijicon HD'd on it.
Took 30 mins all in. Apex. Glock/M&P block, brass hammer , a few small punches...GTG.
Next stop some stippling to improve positive grip.
Put one in the wife's Shield and made for a much better trigger.
I installed one in my Shield - feels just like my other DCAEK'd M&Ps.
I, for one, was very unimpressed with the factory trigger.

I was hoping the factory trigger was going to clean/smooth up, but it's not were ivwant it. I guess the apex kit should get me what I'm looking for.
The apex kit is great. Since you have to remove the rear sight, you might as well upgrade your sights as well.
The only other thing I felt lacking was the slickness of the grip. Talon grips make precut stick on grips. More of a temporary fix, I could see a stipple job in the future.

Agreed...here is mine: Apex kit, Trijicon HD's and a we stippling job:

...first ever "self" stippling. Great work previously done by Bowie, Burwell and Timberlake...glad I tried one myself. It feels great, $20 soldering gun off Amazon and an hours practice on some magazines and an old extra M4 stock. Kind of stressful stippling a serialized gun frame, but I'm happy with the results.

That looks great!! I may still send mine off.
Although the factory trigger was ok after a little polishing, I installed an Apex kit. After the kit was installed, it was still a noticable improvement. I have Trijicon HD's on my M&P45 and may install a set on the Shield also. I'm a big fan of the HD's.
I'm thinking of a set of Heinie sights along with the carry kit.

I just installed the kit in my 9mm shield. Much more improved trigger pull compared with stock. Much lighter and cleaner break. While I had that pain in the butt rear sight off, I went ahead and swapped sights also.
Put one in the wife's Shield and made for a much better trigger.
My wife is now shooting the shield 10x better. Takes all or most of the grit out.

urns a good gun into a great gun! Only thing even close in a polymer gun is my PPQ wich I also love. M&P9c for warm weather. PPQ for the rest of the year.
