Why did you build it?
Why did you choose the parts that you did?

Good questions.
Answers.
The build started when I had several stripped lowers laying around. When DD came out with the S2W barrel I wanted to try one so I picked one up. Along with other parts I had laying around Rainer sent out a email with the Vltor monolitich upper on sale. Always wanting to build with a Vltor upper and now having the chance to use the monolithic I picked on up.

As it turns out, no regrets. I'm not sure this weapon won't out shoot my SPR's.
I mounted a 3x10 Mark IV for the load testing. The thing loves 77gr SMK's with 21.1 gr RL 15.
The Eotech was robbed off another carbine and with the PVS 14 makes a great combo.
Bottom line I guess is, I really didn't per say choose the parts for this build. It just happened.

I like it. Eotech's just seem to fit me well.

My first build using a Vltor upper.
Installing the barrel was different than any other build I had done. This could be because of the monolithic design. I had to actually tap the barrel with a rubber mallet to seat it into the upper. It was a very tight fit. Even without the barrel nut on, there would be no way to remove the barrel without driving it out of the receiver. I have never experienced this before.
I do like the upper, it has proven to be a tack driver at 100 yards using hand loads.

badass. my voltor-1a was tight as hell. some moly grease and mallet did the trick.
