I've been handloading for a couple of years now, and I always had every intention of building or buying a precision upper.
So, here it is...
As it turned out, a majority of the rifle is from Wisconsin companies.
Note:
All parts were sourced pre-panic...
I happened upon a BCM SS410 barrel of the 16" mid-length flavor locally for a decent price.
This really started the ball rolling.
I knew from the get go that my build would HAVE to have a BCM SS410 barrel.
These barrels are made my one of the best barrel makers out there, and have a great reputation for their accuracy.
I was able to source a Vltor MUR upper, and BCM gas block from this board.
The MUR lacks the forward assist, but this is strictly a range toy.
I wanted the MUR for it's exact machining tolerances.
I figured if the receiver face was perfectly perpendicular to the barrel's bore, all the better.
Follow me?
I had an extra BCM BCG and A2 flash hider already.
I decided to get a Vortex PST 1-4X mounted on a ADM scout mount.
I saw the FDE mount on Barfcom, so I scooped it up.
My brother bought a H-1 in an ADM mount from DSGarms, and I was impressed with it.
I choose the PST over the Trijicon TR-24, (which was really the only other optic I was considering.), because of the reticle.
Speaking to a couple of guys who attended the John McPhee class in my area last year, they highly recommended a MRAD reticle with hashmarks for holdovers.
The glass is clear and bright.
Lastly, I added a Troy 15" Alpha in FDE.
I wanted to get the bi-pod out front as much as possible.
The lower, in case anyone is wondering, is a BCM blem with a Geissele SSA installed.

Now, I have never really shot for precision groups before.
And I have only been shooting since I've been a member on this board, so I am still pretty green.
I figured I was a 4MOA shooter at best.
I bought a box of Hornady 75gr BTHP bullet and a box of their 75gr BTHP factory ammo to compare with.
I zeroed the irons at 100yrds with some PPU M193.
The optics are zeroed with the same.
These pics are from my target from this very cold WI range trip.
(If I remember correctly, it was 14* that day)
The orange dots are 1".

The center group is with the M193 using my irons.
The Hornady factory are in the upper left.
The upper right are some 40gr Nosler orange tipped varmit projos I got for cheap. (I just wanted to see if the 1:8" twist would stabilize them.)

Best group.
21.6gr of H335, CCI #400 SRP, mixed brass.
Honestly guys, I never knew I could shoot like this.
I can't wait to play with different handload recipes and stretch it out past 300yrds. (My home rnge goes out to 600yrds)
