In America, it is ok to portray white people in a bad light.

Ain't that the ****ed up truth. In modern advertising, white folks are always portrayed as the fool, dork, villain, ignorant, etc... It's more than obvious.

Did you guys read the story? The ads goal is not to make race the issue, but to note stupid ban policies inacted by government.

Honestly, while anti white discrimination surely exists, it's more about being a safe "fall guy." In a home monitoring TV ad the burglar will always be white because if he isn't whoever is portrayed while have a race based advocacy group that will object and cause problems.

We are simply dealing with the end result of decades of those objections. And as a result we are no closer to equality and simply have different forms of racism.

I have a dream that one day I will watch a TV ad for home monitoring alarm systems and a black, female lesbian in American Indian dress will kick in the front door, pause at the alarm and then flee.

So much for trigger finger discipline.

I'm starting to see the first one floating around Facebook and I'm calling people out on it as I see it come up.

The stupid is running rampant out there...

Ever watch those home security commercials where the guy breaks in and the family comes home? The perp is always a white guy..

Are you sure that isn't a dream about a black, female lesbian in American Indian dress kicking in your front door and ... (cue "brown chicken, brown cow" soundtrack) ... demanding "compensation" for a pizza which you curiously have no money to pay for? :)

I've noticed the same. Reminds me of the two white chicks with 20 degrees blaming white boys for violence

It irritates me that we have to point out the obvious that the book is completely acceptable to own without regulation with the exception of a few school districts where a bunch of emotional idiots got it banned.

And there is not a school in the nation where you can bring an AR-15 into the school. We have had gun free school zones for decades now and they obviously don't work. More to the point, any student can bring that "banned book" into school without incident as their personal property. It simply isn't allowed in the library and/or part of the curriculum.

This is the level of stupidity and complete lack of rational thought we are up against.

 It's an anti-gun ad that stupidly reinforces the racial stereotype that only white people unlawfully wield "assault weapons". Regardless of which race they're targeting, exploiting racial biases to reinforce a negative stereotype is, well, racist! I fail to see how that ISN'T an issue???

Text of an email I sent to the organization responsible:

To Whom It May Concern,

I just saw your new advertising series highlighted on Yahoo! Shine. I have a simple question. Is your organization openly racist? I ask because you seem to have gone out of your way to portray white children as the problem, seeing as how only the white children are holding guns. Regardless of the fact that non-white children are statistically more likely to commit gun violence in America, using racial biases to reinforce negative stereotypes is reprehensible. I don't care what your cause is, ad campaigns like this and the biases they reinforce are one of the reasons we have more racial tension today than we did 10 years ago.

Please stop using this material and make a public apology. You owe it to millions of Americans you've chosen to disparage with this reprehensible sham of a "public service announcement". You've managed to turn the focus away from violence and towards race, which is sad.

Regards,

Agreed. Is reverse discrimination right? No form of discrimination is right in my book, but maybe in this day and age of Political Correctness, whites are thought of by the main stream media, as a more appealing and therefore a safer PC target. They get the same message across without offending non-whites and without having their media corporation becoming a lightning rod for racism. After all, isn't it obvious that by virtue of being white, (and having been in charge and in control for the overwhelming majority of this nation's history), you cannot scream or claim racism because you are not a 'protected class'? According to this administration anyway. Look at all the recent racial injustices inflicted on white victims and barely no news coverage. Incidents that have been dismissed nationally, and at the highest political levels.

To the OP: It looks like the ruling elite has decided to spin it in the same light that other ethnicities have been portrayed in the past...in a bad light in movies and TV programs for decades: being portrayed as undesirable as necessary to fit the director's plot and to play to the commons fears & stereotypes of the target audience of that day. Being shown on a regular basis as people 'not to be trusted' while at the same time being submissive to whites. Where was the outrage then? Maybe some still harbor those racists thoughts and stereotypical fears in the back of their minds, given the outrage and 'glad to be white' comments in this thread, and are still uncomfortable dealing with people outside an individual's race on a regular basis. It must be quite confusing and disturbing when the shoe is on the other foot...

End the end, it's all marketing elite bullshit. It is an attempt at mind control and to sway public opinion. Same can be said for school children being subjected to the progressive political agenda of a teacher. Whether you fall for the narrative of the day, depends on how emotionally tied you are to the perceived subject, beyond the mere words of the ad being shown. And make no mistake, the messages we receive are all designed to provoke an emotional response. The question is, are folks level headed enough to see through the gross distortion of the message without getting emotionally affected...see it for what it is, a marketing gimmick, and not increase your hatred for people who's skin color that doesn't quite match their own?

I like how the Moms Demand Action (sounds like a pornographic MILF genre series) anti-2nd Amendment group poses the question in their propaganda posters "Why not Assault Weapons?" Last I checked every school in the country is a "GUN FREE ZONE", so what school do these hag's kids go to that allow guns?

Oh yeah and the whole only the white kids are holding the evil black rifles was a real gas . . .

Level headed? I think I am. Willing to be portrayed as an evil white killer? Not so much. This is the kind of shit that our kids are being force fed by the school system, media, & even our own ****ed up gov't. It's not just this ad. It in our newspapers, TV, billboards, radio, textbooks...everywhere, every day. I don't owe anyone shit. I don't give a **** what happened in history. This overcompensating for racial issues that happened generations before you, I or anyone else on this forum even existed, is a crock of shit. So yeah, I'm "Emotionally affected".

Race??? You guys are overreacting and being overly sensitive. The first ad has a little girl holding an AR. People post photos of their kids with rifles and game all the time.

The issue with these ads is their sheer stupidity and misguided propaganda. 1. So they're saying Little Red Riding Hood is not allowed in schools but rifles are? Except kids are allowed to take books into school and no one is allowed to take firearms into schools. The crux of their argument is so weak the kids in the ad know it. 2. The next two ads have kids with their fingers on the trigger. Way to propagate irresponsible firearm handling on a national level. Dangerous morons. 3. "Assault weapons"...there's that propaganda phrase again.

Overly sensitive?
The three kids holding the ARs are white. The other three kids are AA, Hispanic maybe?, and Asian. How much more stereotypical can you get?

Imagine the reverse roles and especially if the non-white kids were holding pistols and the white kids weren't.
I don't think it would ever happen in today's media. I could see that as a negative stereotype, wouldn't you?

Right, so you have one black, one hispanic, one asian, and three white kids. ALL of the white kids are shown with the AR...You're telling me that there's no undertones here? Seriously?

Even if the kid who carried the AR was selected at random, the chance that all three white kids are selected is about 6%...do the math (figuratively and literally).

It's really very simple. It doesn't matter whether you or I look at all three photos and see racism. All that matters is that if the roles were reversed, the left would light a bonfire under it. By focusing on the racist undertones (and they are definitely present), you kill the context of the intended message. It's no longer about violence or safety or "assault weapons" or banned objects, it's all about racial exploitation.

Why do you think the left cries racist so often? Because it works. Only a tactical fool would leave this gift wrapped weapon off the table in this case.

Well I take it as a compliment, all the white kids had money for rifles. :p

Obviously in the minority on the issue, so I'll exit the conversation. Take care

In all honesty. This thread sounds like the reverend al sharptons strstegy meeting. "Lets over react and get everyone's attention". Lets just focus on the moronic message of the ads.

Screaming about discrimination makes us look as foolish as the idiot on the street corner crying racism after he or his friends were arrested for being "insert race or ethnicity here".

These ads just reinforce the downward spirial this country is heading down because of liberal and politically correct philosophies.

Negative, there is a complete blackout on any and all such affronts concerning whites in the MSM whereas Jesse, Al, and the gang get their own press conferences.

No it does not. For starters none of us have been arrested and charged with a crime. Also it brings attention to the fact that white heterosexual conservative men are the left’s scapegoat.

This I agree with as every school in the nation is a GUN FREE ZONE so those evil black rifles that those mass murdering honky children are holding are in fact already banned from their schools. Propaganda 101.
