I don't know if there is a correct answer for this... or even if there is an answer, but, how far back or forward do you want to place a red-dot on an Ultimak? Is it personal preference?

I've seen some photos with them all the way on the rail as far as it can go and some all the way up front.

I put mine as far back as possible to try and keep the balance as close as possible to the center. I have the Primary Arms clones and they have held zero and held up so far there.

Far back as possible. This should keep the rifle more balanced and more functional. Also the Ultimak has a gap in the front, which releases hot gases each time a shot is fired. This may buildup carbon on the front of the objective if you mount the sight all the way forward on the rail.
