http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2013/04/16/Politico-NRAs-Total-Defeat-of-Obama-Media-Likely

Politico reports on Tuesday that the gun control bill Obama, liberal Democrats, Piers Morgan, Chuck Todd, and all of CNN want so desperately to pass "has little if any, chance of passing this Congress – it’s struggling in the Senate and facing outright rejection in the House."

Obama and His Media kept moving the goal posts for victory until they reached a point where assault weapons and the size of magazine clips were completely off the table. All that remains today is a small tightening of background checks. That doesn't mean, though, that victory wouldn't still be declared and Obama celebrated as Caesar back from the wars. But even that piece of practically-nothing looks unlikely to pass -- in part, because of three Senate Democrats who, as of now, are unwilling to support it.

And maybe, just maybe, had Obama and the media not used the Newtown massacre as an excuse to launch yet-another culture war against the right, something good might have come from this.

How many times did I say that they were going to fail because they were over-reaching? :D

They played their hand way too heavily and now they may get nothing.

Think we'll see this on the lamestream media? I think not.

The only thing I will say is maybe we didn't lose much ground but this far from over. Anytime they take a little piece of my freedom, no matter how small, it's not a win in my book.

It is nice to know that there might be some semblance of sense or maybe just fear of losing their jobs in the senate and house.

IM not celebrating yet, Because this will only empower the libs, and Bloomberg to push for gun laws on the state level. MD and NY and CT strengthened their gun laws, And now pushing to PA which will soon go under if Corbett looses re election, which is likely to happen unfortunately

I went back and scanned a couple of the threads in the hours and days immediately following the Sandy Hook massacre. I, for one, speculated universal background checks were a done deal, a "high-capacity mag" ban probably had a 50-50 shot at getting passed, and a renewed AWB was unlikely.

Frankly, I'm surprised the gun control efforts at the federal level have withered as rapidly as they have. I'm not discounting the legislative action at the state level in New York, Colorado, and Connecticut. But how many of us believed we'd see this issue fade at the national level in such a short period of time when looking at the photographs of those school kids in Newtown?

Keep the faith and continue all efforts.

They are NOT going to stop.

Well, it's not really that surpising, Obombo is a lame duck...He's asking alot of senators to commit politcial hari-kari, while many may have been willing a couple months ago, reality has set in, Sure, bloomberg may help them with $$$ in the next election, but, what if they lose? That's a risk many don't want to take...They still remember what happened after the first AWB..That cost the Dems dearly, and this has the makings of the same thing all over..I'll go so far as to say Manchin may have cooked his own goose...All someone running against him has to do would be to show all the bad things in his bill, how it dosen't stop the ATf from creating a list, how Holder can override most of it, How a commission could recommend more gun control every 6 months..etc,and how Manchin was/is pushing for this. Run some ads all over W.VA, and watch how fast Manchin loses popularity...

I certainly cannot fault your analysis but given the reaction immediately following the Sandy Hook massacre, I'm still surprised. Perhaps not as surprised as all those folks who shelled out $100 for a PMAG or $3500 for a Bushmaster, but still a little surprised. :)

Seeing several reports of this now...wouldn't be surprised if this is a media trick to get us to relax, and to get the gun-grabbers fired up. Keep up the pressure folks!

God only knows...I know it's a little late, but have you considered reloading? I stocked up on componets before everything went nuts.. Right now, that's the only way I can keep shooting...

Reid slipping up and calling the legislation anti-gun I thought was telling

Plus nobody I think really wants to be seen as that guy who is anti gun after yesterday.

I've given up looking... The only 223 or 5.56 I've seen is AE 223 20 for $20 at a local lgs. I'm not biting and doesn't look like anyone else is either. Won't be at the range much this year.

When you listen to our fearless leader he says it's unconscionable that congress would defy the will of the people and not pass this, his anti gun, bill. He of course puts the blame on the gun lobby but did he ever stop to consider that maybe congress IS responding to the will of the people? I know I, and a bunch of you out there, have made it real clear to state and federal representation that they are not to support these bills. So maybe they are in fact doing what the people say.

The reloading community ain't faring much better. I am currently on week 6 of waiting for a 550B.

I heard someone on the radio this morning stating that the bombs in Boston were probably "gun powder" bombs. They'll probably want to license you to buy Pyrodex and smokeless powder now.

Moltke

What the bomb is made out of is irrelevant. The discussion should not even be engaged in.

What I mean is the act of bombing should be the focus, not the components, and the more we continue a discussion about a "gunpowder bomb", the worse it will be for us.

Unfortunately, the gun grabbers will focus on it even if we don't talk about it.

After the OK City bombing all of a sudden TPTB wanted all kinds of restrictions on ammonium nitrate fertilizer.

It just goes to illustrate that, indeed, we can't ever stop being vigilant even though the new AWB, mag ban, and maybe even the expanded background check are about to fail.

I understand..But, I can assure you it'll be worth the wait...I bought my 550B about 12 years ago...I've never broke a single part, At one time I was loading for 13 different calibers, I've since pared my "collection" down, and now only load for 7 calibers..Needless to say, it's paid for itself many times over...You'll not regret buying it...

No, very true. I won't regret it at all. My only point was that the reloading market is in as bad a shape as the ammo market. I'm not getting burned again.

Manchin is already done in WV, you can take that to the bank. For anyone that doubts that.... 40% of WV voted for a convicted felon in TX instead of Obama, in the primaries, because he was messing with coal. And to WV it's God, guns, and coal, and we have a long memory. Ole Manchin has done pissed the bed, and he won't come back from this.

I think the fight on the Hill is pretty much over, however, I see all kinds of similar verbage in bills being submitted by Dems at the state level. Bloomberg funding Dems at the state, across the country. Remain vigilant and keep the pressure on the state politicians and mount local campaigns to vote them out of office.

Sumbitch failed:

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/senate-rejects-gun-bill-compromise-204629005--politics.html

The Senate on Wednesday rejected a bipartisan amendment that would have expanded background checks on gun purchases, a blow to advocates calling for more strict firearms laws after the mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut last year.

The measure, the product of intense negotiations between Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Pat Toomey and West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, would have extended background check requirements on gun owners. It needed 60 votes to pass, but failed 54-46.

This part bothers me:

“This is going to be a close vote and I can assure you of one thing, we’re going to get this eventually," Biden said during a live video for Google. "If we don’t get this today, we’ll get this eventually.”

He promised that the White House and gun reform supporters continue to move ahead regardless of Senate action.

Time to whip out those executive orders, Barry!

Dear Obama,

Gun control just publicly failed in the Senate because a majority of the elected representatives from all the states couldn't support it. Sign off on an executive order going against the majority will of the people so you can be impeached.

Sincerely, Moltke
