almost complete... just need a trigger and an optic

BCM upper and CH
Rock Creek 18" bbl, rifle gas, wylde chamber
Daniel Defense Lite rail
Magpul UBR
MIAD
Smith Vortex FH (obscured by my old Smith suppressor)
Larue QD
5x PMAG30s

Paint (by WWGuns in AL) is ATACS hydro dip and background is my ATACS FG shooting mat. I don't know how well ATACS will really conceal someone, but it dang sure keeps my iphone from focusing. It actually looks a little more green in person too.

Straight badass brother.....wouldn't expect anything less from you though.

Love the Rock Creek SPR barrel....I'm biased though as Rock Creek single point cut rifled SS barrels are my favorite to date for use on precision ARs.

Love the UBR....quintessential LP AR stock imho.

There is no more perfect optic and trigger for that rifle than a NXSc 2.5-10x24 w/ zero stop / mildot mil/mil & SD-E trigger...if you disagree, than I'll have to drive to TN and install both of those on that rifle to prove my point :p

One of these days we're gonna finally get to do some shooting....we could have one helluva time with our rifles and your playground....and your NVDs obviously ;)

hey you're welcome up here any time.

some flavor of geissele is going in there. i'm half tempted to throw a hi-speed competition trigger though instead of the sd-e. i'll probably come to my senses before i order though.

NF isn't a bad idea. A friend is bringing his new USO 1-8x by in a few weeks for me to play with before i buy though. I really don't want to spend that much $$$ but we'll have to see if it's as cool as he says it is.

USO makes some awesome optics, and what makes them stick out positively for most end users is just the opposite of what I like in an optic....aka highly intricate, and cutting age features, or as I call them in the bass boat world...bells and whistles.

Personally I love my optics to be bare bones in terms of features, and the simpler they are designed the better. NF represents exactly what I'm looking for.....unmatched toughness, solid glass, and totally vetted features that work.

The USOs I've shot with on occasion were easily some of the most user friendly, and overall neat optics I've seen. However they have arguably the worst scope profiles/sizes in the business. The new USO 1-8x is a great example of this....little too long for me, and doesn't seem to be the easiest optic to mount. I think it's just overall a bit to robust in size for the power range. Then again, I'm a 2/3-9/10x variable / secondary offset 1x rds fan. Even a cattail with a smooth ring can't beat the transition time from a primary optic to a secondary 1x given it's mount properly.

My next optic purchase will be the March Tactical 1-10x....I've been saving for it for close to a year and half, and always end up dipping into that fund. I can't think of something I want more than that optic...just sucks to shell out $2k plus for an optic. Gotta pay to play I guess.

Have you tried the SD-E before?......if not, I'll send you one of mine to install and try for a few days to see if you like it. Just send it back once you know if it's for you or not.

hey thanks for the offer! i have several of the geisseles though.

i got to play with the march 1-10x when they first came out. Boyette had one at his Swamp match in NC a couple 3 years ago or so. heh i don't remember if i liked it or not though :) i'm sure they've made a lot of changes since then anyway

depending on the surrounding, it can work very well

Nice rifle...!

Where did you score the barrel?

bought it from Mike @ rock creek. Actually I bought 4 identical ones and split them with a friend so I've still got another one. I'm planning to do another similar build maybe in the fall when I save up some $ and parts come back down. i got a 12" larue quadrail for it. prob go with different stock and grip just for variety, even though i love the miad/ubr combo. I'd like a MUR or maybe even a VIS upper for it. prob throw some ATACS FG paint on it

How do you like the Code Red lower? How was fit? Lugs in spec? All the right holes in the right size in the right places?

taliv

hard to say as i obviously haven't installed a selector, trigger or fired it yet. but no problems so far.

(actually, I did have a problem with the white oak LPK. i was very surprised when the magazine catch didn't fit in the slot. fortunately, i have a couple LPK and tried another one and it was fine. so pretty sure it's the LPK and not the lower. basically, the part was too wide and wouldn't fit in the horizontal slot.)

Very very cool rifle. What kind of contour is on the barrel?

That looks like a awsome tube for that price!

taliv

especially considering that was the price in mid January at the peak of the hysteria. (and it's a rock creek bbl chambered by compass lake)

That's a sweet looking rifle. I'm all about that camo.

thanks!

geez... has it been since april already? well i guess i will give an update: the rifle is still unfinished. i bought an x-treme AR trigger and even though I think the x-treme (former cg-jackson) bolt gun trigger is the best trigger money can buy, i was pretty disappointed in their AR trigger. so i got a SD-E to replace it. And the USO scope... did not survive being dipped into a couple inches of water. leaked. it is still out for repair. no ETA. hopefully the repair won't totally fubar the hydro dip.

maybe someday...

Are you gonna have the can dipped also? I'm curious how it would hold up to the heat...

taliv
08-09-13, 14:26
wasn't planning on it. the factory finish on that can held up pretty well (i used it on a different gun that saw mag dumps, carbine classes and 3gun matches many years ago), but early on i accidentally rested it on a carpeted bench at the range and now i have melted carpet on the bottom half.

but maybe i should... i don't think it would hold up to heat well at all, but i'm not planning on getting it super hot from the SPR style rifle.

FINALLY got my optic AND ATACS scope cover in on same day (today) and took it to the range. I put the geissele SSA in as well.

Optic is the super-cool USO 1-8x and the suppressor cover is made by Armageddon Gear (highly recommended)

WWGuns in AL did a great job with the camo dip. very pleased with the way it turned out.

I tried some through-scope pics but they didn't turn out well.

Wow! Great looking setup! That hydro dip looks great!

thanks! it's my best looking, worst shooting rifle. no idea why it's not shooting. very irritating. love the scope though

I understand. When I built my SPR, I had the same situation as Noodles did with his. My mounts were jacked and didn't even know it.
