Then post up some pics or videos!

Seems like alot of us have off-road rigs, so show it off. Done anything memorable with it?

Nothing hardcore; trail rides, hunting, ect....

My dad passed away a coulple years back and I inherited a couple of his trucks. Because of this I retired from hunting and sold the ZR2.

This was his 1971 GMC. I've got a little bit of work to do on it then it will be my new off-road ride.

Black Bear, Colorado, 3/4 ton 6 cyl '69 Ford, 1976; same truck, Dempster hwy to Inuvik, NWT, 1979.

Love the stickers that say "It's A Jeep Thing--You Wouldn't Understand".

After 40+years and 3 Jeeps (one complete rebuild from a total), a 1952 Land Rover, and a Toyota, maybe I DO understand. Twits. :jester:

Here's my first 4x4, a 1995 Land Rover Discovery with 3" lift and 33s. I've done some great riding locally and at Uwharrie National Forest. I love this truck!

I actually enjoyed it so much I decided to get another land rover, a 2008 LR3. Unfortunately it doesnt see too many trails.

I wheeled my Wrangler once, found it very boring, so I bought a Honda CRF450X, sold that before my up coming PCS, but now buying a Honda XR650L in Costa Rica.

Jealous. That have the new 3.6 in it?

The green one is a 2010, I traded it in on the red one, a 2013 with the 3.6. We only had it 2 weeks when we took nit wheeling:D
The 3.6 has a lot more balls than the 3.8 did.

Jealous. That have the new 3.6 in it?

My boss has a 2012 and he LOVES the new 3.6. It's his 4th Jeep and he said it compares very well against the old 4.0 straight 6. He did say that he noticed a little less low end torque which requires a little more gas/clutch when in 4H, but that the new engine more than makes up for it with much more upper end power.

I went wheeling with him a week ago. Only mods to his, a bare bones Sport, is a 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires. The Jeep had no problem on some steep hills and ate up rocky trails like it wasnt there.

A few days ago I went wheeling with another friend of mine who has a modified Toyita FJ Trails Teams edition. He had a 4 inch lift (complete with new shocks and whatnot) and 33 inch tires, some new skid plates and a few other things. We went to a different spot and went back deep into the mountains north of Phoenix. That truck has some faults, outward vision being the biggest, but it was an absolute animal on the trails. My buddy had me driving it and was purposely telling me to take the hard/bad lines up and down several hills. The FJ really impressed me.

whoah, did you get her out all right?

Yep. Thank god the insurance covered the recovery though. It was an $1800 bill IIRC. They ended up totaling the jeep out due to water damage. I bought it back and fixed it and then drove it for another year and a half before I finally got rid of it.

I wheeled my Wrangler once, found it very boring . . . .

I can understand that. Driving around at turtle speed getting knocked around in the cockpit. WOW!! :D

For me, I like exploring. I rarely go to the same trails/seasonals. I like seeing new places and driving through the woods where everything is a surprise. That's the best part, the exploration.

Although, a good hill-climb is fun too. Just put it into Lo-range, point the nose at the sky, and give it the beans.

Should be getting a re-gear (from 3.55 to 4.56), armored diff covers, transmission band adjustment and B&M Transpak installed, armored transmission pan, Borgeson steering gearbox and HD steering shaft installed, and winch mounted, either later this week or early next week.

And THEN I can wheel it! :D

I wanted the Cherokee Trailhawk and no one had one around here. :-( Lease was comming to an end so I just got a SantaFe Sport 2.0T. It may be AWD and it may have 272hp of Korean fury, but it ain't doin' much off-roadin'. Oh well.

Took the Tundra on her maiden adventure. Went with a buddy and his new F150 and another buddy with his modified off roading Subaru Outback which did surprisingly well.

Our destination was an old dam along a creek from an old gold mine in the 1800s.

Four Wheel Drive is the norm out in this part of the world, especially when it's wet. My ranch house is 4 miles off of two lane blacktop and 70 miles from town. No neighbors for many miles, and that's a feature, not a complaint.

I came really close to buying one of those. I like them a lot. If I hadn't received the deal I did on my Tundra it would be a 6.2L F250.
