Alot of you guys have alot more shotguns experance than I do,So I figure I would ask.I recently traded into a Tactical 11-87 witch shoots fairly well with heavy loads.I'm considering selling it off in order to get into a Saiga 12 if i can find one.
The 11-87 kinda conerns me with some of the things I've read about on the net about O-rings parts breakage, etc.. what do you guys think?

I'm an AK guy, and I'd keep the 11/87.

If the 11-87 runs, keep it. Clean it and replace parts as per the manual. Keep it lubed. Use ammo you know works. No problems.

If you want a Saiga shotgun, get a Saiga shotgun, but keep the 11-87.

We had several at work, 18" & 21"; six to eight total. We shot mostly slugs & buckshot in the 10 or 11 years before I left. Naturally some guns were fired more than others. We never had a problem with the O-rings.

I was pleased when they went to what I think were plated gas rings as they we a lot easier to clean. The 11-87's were labor intensive to clean, but that is the price you have to pay for the benefit of a gas operated gun.

Our guns worked like a champ with full power loads.

Sorry, no Saiga experience here.

I have an 11-87 for many years now. I would keep it, very reliable.

I ended up getting a Saiga 12 gauge because the 1187 I previously tried to run in 3-gun matches wouldn't extract birdshot loads well. If an 1187 runs, it's a great gun. Saigas have a certain cult following.

And those 10-round mags given you a huge advantage in matches over your competitors that are running the reloading tubes for conventional shotguns.

I suspect that if you wanted it to work with bird shot, the gas ports would have to have been opened to the point that it was reliable with your load of choice.

Indy PD had the same problem with the Federal Tactical they wanted to use in their 14" barrel SGT 11-87's years ago. Once the gas ports were opened up, they ran as desired.

Good luck with the new gun.

I sold a beautiful 11-87 Premier several years ago for a Benelli M1 Super 90 and have Never looked back. The Benny is Three times the gun of the Remmy. A Lot of guys are giving the Saiga a look for the run and gun games ..... I have witnessed the 1100series guns puke miserably year after year. I have hardly cleaned my M1 in three years and it just runs. Check the Brian Enos forum to see how the Saiga's are running or what mod's are being done to them to make them GTG.

While I have a converted Saiga 12, I'd keep the 11-87 if it runs. The Saiga is fun and all, but for anything serious I'd prefer a tube fed gun.
