View Full Version : Black Helicopters & Machineguns: Another Session 11 May!
UPDATE: Stay tuned for the next shoot date!
________________________________________
Have you ever wanted to shoot a machinegun? Have you ever wanted to shoot from a helicopter? Have you ever wanted to shoot a machinegun from a black helicopter??
Whirlybird now offers you that opportunity at the Wes Intel shooting facilities in Fairfield, Utah starting tomorrow. You can rent a variety of machineguns (instructors will be on hand to teach you the manual of arms) and shoot them from our black Robinson R44. Call 801.726.3627 for options and pricing.
Disclosure: I work as Director of Maintenance for Whirlybird Helicopters. Yes, I have an interest in seeing this work.
Also, this is NOT a training course, it's for fun. It's for the guy who wants to see what it's like to shoot safely from a helicopter, either with a rented machinegun or their own rifle.
I cleared this thread with Army Chief before posting. I know it's a last minute announcement, but I've been very busy lately making sure our birds are up to snuff.
If you can't make it this weekend, call for future dates.
I'm very excited- I can't wait to see how it works out. The battery in my camera is charged and I'm rarin' to go! I'll post photos when I get them
GAH! Post pics...with the riflemans permission...that would be sick!

Helicopters and machine guns without the push ups or sit ups?
I'm not really seeing a downside here, gents. ;)

I'm in at a later date. This summer is booked stupid for me.
If I lived in Utah I'd already be signed up. Would sure beat the average day at the range and I haven't been on a helicopter in many years.
Mistwolf, a humble suggestion would be to offer at least a price range here for these outings. This way it gives others a general idea as to what they would be looking at and therefore may help prompt additional calls. Again, just a suggestion and good luck with the endeavor.

Will you be using Global One's Range or another or private property to engage targets ?
Damn! I am going to be in SLC on Sunday. Wish I had know about this sooner.
Prices start at $500 and go up from there according to the options chosen. Options include rental of a variety of full auto weapons and purchase of ammo.
From what I understand, Wes Intel has a facility in the area that we'll be using. I don't know if it's the Global One range or if they've set up shop for this someplace else.
I've been up to my eyeballs performing maintenance on our birds and don't know all the details, so please forgive me. I do want this to work because then I'll have the coolest job in the world
This idea is full of win and I'd do it in a flash if/when time and $$$ allows. You must need a heck of a large piece of open land to do that no? Very cool. :D
I need to find some $$$ quick. One more reason I love living in Utah.
Man that would be a great experience for a lot of people. I'll point people your way for sure (know quite a few civvies who would want to do this).
Also as an aside, let me know if they ever want to expand and get guys rappelling / fast roping out of the helicopters. I bet people would pay to do that too. I have all the relevant qualifications: Air Assault, Pathfinder, Rappel Master and Fast Rope Insertion/Extraction Master, and Special Purpose Insertion/Extraction Master.
Your ride, Ladies & gentlemen

We'll be flying out of West Desert Airpark http://www.rmkplanes.com/WDAirpark.html
The shooting facility is next to that
Here's the link to our website http://www.flywhirly.com/ which also has a link to our Facebook page
I will definitely ask about fast roping & rappelling
How far is this from Salt Lake? Our family summer home in Idaho is about 4 hours from Salt Lake.
I asked my boss how to get there and he said "You mean by driving?" They flew down.
So Mapquest it is-

That price isn't bad, for what you get. How long does it last? Helo hog hunts are big down here and it's well worth the money.
All the sudden this popped into my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKaYOW9zMoY
All I can say is WOW. I didn't get to shoot from the helicopter but I got to shoot a Colt full auto 10.5" SBR. That was fun! I emptied a 60 rnd Surefire mag with a series of three round bursts. That's not what you want to hear about, is it?
We did a few test runs to get a feel for how things will work. Two full autos were used, an HK 9mm MP-5 type carbine (exact type I'm not sure and didn't get a photo of it) and a Colt 10.5" SBR. I've got some raw video and a few photos I'll get up for you.
What they are talking about is offering a whole package. It will be more than the minimum I posted, but it sounds like it will cover weapon rental, ammo, familiarization training and a run through a shoot house as well as firing from the helicopter as well as lunch.
Let me go get some chow, work on the photos and vids and figure out how to post everything
The video camera I used belongs to my wife and I'm not very familiar it's operation so parts are out of focus. Here's the run we did using the Colt full auto SBR

And the Colt SBR. The guy holding it is Troy and he's the one shooting it in the video. He's one of the honchos of this show

Double check that link. It's not porn, don't worry. But it's not right. :D
Agents of KAOS must have breached our security! Fixed link
