I really want to try out one of those BCM grips. Build looks good. Now just add ammo and magazines and get to the range.

Looks nice, I'm digging the BCM comp more and more, shoot it, a lot, and than shoot it some more. Maybe throw some rattle can on it.

Not sure. I bought it from a gunsmith friend of mine. He couldn't remember either. It looks fine to me. It has good stakes on the gas key and an o-ring on the extracter spring. I couldn't find any flaws in it. It did have a couple letters stamped into the side of the carrier though. I don't remember them now but will post when I get home.

That's the plan for this weekend. Hopefully I'll have a range report by Sunday.

Was going to say the same thing about those grips. The angle looks awkward but it also looks very ergonomic.

Yeah I'm probably gonna pick up a few more for future builds. I wanna do a build with one of their COP uppers.

The build looks solid. Nice work.

I am curious on that lower. Did you order it or get it from LGS, or online?

I got this one on GunBroker. But they've been getting them in stock on their site pretty frequently. I bought the upper from their site.

I just looked and it's stamped RG. So it's an RGuns BCG. It appears to be chrome lined. From what I've read by Googling, their CS is stupid bad, but no one says anything bad about the quality of their parts.

Took it out today and fed it 140 Federal XM855's and it ran flawlessly. Couldn't be happier with how it turned out and how it shoots.

Don't mean to be an asshole but I'd like to point out

145 is a bit soon to think the rifle is ready for serious social use. I'd also be a bit leery about using a Double Star LPK, but that's just me. I have not heard of any line of Eotech products that didn't suffer from the battery compartment issue.

Otherwise it seems like a decent build. Good work for your first attempt

Do you have any legit data to back up why I shouldn't use a DoubleStar LPK? I inspected each part before installation and they looked like all the other thousands I've installed in my career. All the parts fit perfectly without issue.

You must not have been paying much attention, but the newer EOTechs have been just fine when it comes to the battery compartments. Especially the XPS line with the horizontal battery compartments. Even the older ones with the parallel compartments are being shipped with updated equipment. Trust me, I didn't just buy these parts on a whim. I did a little research first.

I am by no means say that 140 rounds proves that this thing is ready for anything. I'm not sure what "social use" is so I really can't comment on that. All I said was that it ate everything I've put in it so far without a single issue.

I believe the words, "but that's just me," should imply that I could be wrong on that point.

Eotechs have not been improved. I've seen threads on here that mention the battery compartments failing in the latest models. The problem now is that the battery moves from side to side left and right which causes it to break and spew acid inside of the compartment.

Not sure if you're trolling or not...

There has to be a reason why you would even mention that I should be concerned about a specific LPK.

And I'm not folling about your explanation about the battery compartments. How would side to side movement cause the battery to break open and spew acid? Maybe you mean something else... The battery is held inside the compartment tightly with spring tension and I don't see any condition that would jar it enough laterally to break a battery.

If you wouldn't mind, please point me in the direction of these threads showing the newer model EOTechs with failing battery compartments, and the broken batteries with spewing acid from side to side movement.

I am distrustful of all Double Star, Stag, DPMS, RRA merchandise.

Here they are

Can't find all of them but I was admittedly bummed to hear F2S's insight.

Sorry if I've been sounding like a troll.

I hear you about not liking certain companies. But I looked around and there was no negative info about this LPK.

You didn't post those two threads as examples of negative reviews of EOTech did you? They both read like EOTech advertsing examples of how great their products are. I think I only spotted three negative posts in that whole 5 page thread and none in the other thread. Either way, I'm happy with my EXPS3-0 and if it breaks, I'll get it fixed.

I'd note that those negative posts do come from F2S. To me that means quite a bit about how the product is performing.

I guess if you're into broad generalizations and the repeated use of the word "may."

Give it a rest! Y'all will be talking in circles forever..

Are doublestar LPKs the best? Definitely not. Will they suffice for now? Yes. It doesn't sound like he'll be shooting 3-4k rounds/year. And if he's like he rest of us, at least selector and trigger will be changed before long.

EOtechs have improved. That's a fact. Now whether they've gone from from "terrible" to "acceptable" or from "acceptable" to "good" is a matter of your perspective, uses, round schedule, etc. That said, never owned one and probably never will.

I agree. This back and forth stuff is a little childish. So I'm done.

But I do have one question for you. Why do you say the DoubleStar LPK will "suffice for now?" What are the weak components of this kit? I don't know if you guys noticed in the list of part, but I did use a Geissele trigger in this build. I don't see what other parts, besides the trigger I didn't use, would cause this kit to be substandard...
