Another fine piece of work by Mr. Smith, just got this in today. When I saw the Fedex truck the the driver thought I was going to tackle it!
Words and pictures don't come close to actually having it, I'm really happy to have this complete and in my hands ready to test some loads for hunting. If you guys are thinking of having this work done, be confident in Mr. Smith's work. I'm extremely pleased with this and proud to own it-now I have to keep my son from taking it, he'll get it one day anyhow.
The scope is what I had about, actually works well with the Leupold mount and Eagle stock pack. I'll probably just use it to test the loads and then run irons and enjoy it as it is until maybe adding an Aimpoint Micro.
Thank you Mr. Smith!:)
Mark

Really just my fun gun as I use my SBR for pretty much everything. I know some nerds will :help: about the scope. Works just fine for me. Marlin 336BL .30-30. I have this AAC Cyclone sitting around and nothing to put it on so I thought, why not? Gives me some giggles.

My Winchester 1873. It's in 45 Colt. Yes, I know, Winchester never made a '73 in 45 Colt. But, Winchester didn't make it, I did. I picked up a stripped frame with lower tang cheap, the number was worn to unreadable. I had the hammer still in it. Those are the original parts, the rest, I did, one way or another. The barrel was made from two barrels, and original Winchester barrel in 32-20 that was shot out, and a Rossi .45 Colt barrel for a '92 model. I measured down the tapers to where they were the same size, cut the shot out barrel off and bored it out to about halfway between the bore size and OD. The Rossi barrel was turned to be a tap in fit. They were put together and carefully welded around the octagon, and then it was re-straightened. The magazine tube is also Rossi '92. The front sight was made, as that early style was hard to find. The rear was purchased. The wood was purchased and antiqued. The buttplate also purchased. The forend nose cap was made from scratch. The sideplates are modified Uberti, and antiqued. The lever, trigger, cartridge carrier lever, bolt, firing pin, and toggles were made from scratch. The receiver finish is as received, all other metal was antiqued. Springs are Uberti. I had no measurements, just pictures in books and a borrowed Uberti, but they changed all the dimensions, so I just had to use proportion and guesstimation. Made three sets of toggles, the last ones worked right, and drew the bolt back to the proper position.
Shot for a few years in CAS before I stopped doing it. Still have the rifle. Of course, it's mine. In every way.

Rossi M92 in .44 mag. I wanted a short handy carbine but with the heavy octagon barrel. Got a 24" rifle and had the barrel cut down to 18". (fiber optic front sight is no longer on there, too fragile) Very happy with it. Need a nice leather ammo cuff now.

Probably gonna get flamed for this... but I added a light to my .44mag Rossi 92. It's the Streamlight Protac Rail Mount 1 on a Haley Strategic Thorntail mount. In combination with the Romeo 5 already there, this should finish the gun off nicely.

I still retain the good balance, and one handed carry leverguns are famous for.
https://i.imgur.com/AueqS3R.jpg
Streamlight must have known what I was gonna do. They include a perfect size set of little screws for mounting the switch on plastic or wood stocks.

I zip-tied the wire up so as not to have it resting on the barrel.

Trying to step up my photography game over the old "gun on the floor" shots.
My first 45-70 is this Marlin 1895 GBL I got used off another gun forum I'm on. I've since added the 550 cord sling, ammo cuff, XS sights, and today... finally... the Vortex Crossfire red dot.
https://i.imgur.com/pe4YgCi.jpg
This is my "Combat Cowboy" defensive lever gun. A Rossi M92 in.44 magnum. 24" barrel cut to 17". This way I get myself a short carbine, but still have the heavy octagon barrel. Sights are white bead front, and Steve's Gunz peep in the rear. (replaces the bolt safety) The curved steel buttplate was horrendous, so that was replaced with a recoil pad. A piece of leftover pic rail was mounted to the top of the octagon barrel, and fitted with a Sig Romeo 5 red dot. The light is a Streamlight on a Haley Stragic offset mount. The large loop lever is also from Steve's Gunz.

M1 carbine sling, Ranger Point Precision fiber optic front sight, Hi-Viz fiber optic rear sight, RMR06 MRDS, bumps and scratches from previous lives. Internals repaired/replaced to make it reliable, touch up blue and stock refinished to make it more presentable, ready for a new life in a WV cabin.

Update 04/27/2020: Made a steel copy of the aluminum base and moved to rear mounting holes to increase view for snap shooting. Changed sight to Holosum 508T/G/1 to take advantage of green dot for older eyes. Very solid base, very long battery life, good combo for sturdy working gun. Same footprint as RMR sights - easily returned to red dot, if desired.

Checks all the boxes DM. Bet it’s soft shooting for a .44 mag.

That's the lever that you use to unscrew the magazine tube for the take-down.

Ruger No.1 in .375 H&H Magnum. My favorite rifle to shoot honesty. Love it. Great gun. Planning a hunt with it now in South Carolina.

What scope and rings please? I have a No 1 45-70 and a Leupold 2.5X compact scope that I need to mate up. Gorgeous rifle, by the way!

I will have to double check this afternoon when I am home from work. I want to say I used glossy Leupold’s holding that 1-4x. The scope is originally a shotgun scope as it utilizes a Turkey Plex reticle. Good ole trusty VX-1!

Thank you
Turkey Plex with cross? Very fast especially on 1X. Think EOtech with their 65 MOA ring and dot in the center.
