I originally planned to build a 10.5 dedicated suppressed SBR up from the ground up but due to the recent events and parts being hard to source I had a chance to snag a Daniel Defense MK18 new from the factory. I finally received it yesterday!

The build:

BCM Registered lower:

BCM Mod 0 Grip
Geissele SD-C trigger
BAD ASS safety selector
Vltor IMod
H2 buffer and Blue Springco Spring.

Upper:

DD MK18
Aimpoint T-1
Magpul RVG
Surefire X300U
Troy BUIS (due to arrive today)

Huntertown Arms Kestrel 5.56- picked this one because it is user serviceable, and 100% warrantied free in case I have a baffle strike, baffles wore out, etc. So far so good for a thread on. The whole setup weights 7.1lbs unloaded.

It is my main HD rifle, with 75gr TAP at the ready. Selected specifically for saving my ears (I am a classical pianist) and for getting around my very narrow hallways.

Very nice build! Any clearance issues with the suppressor and rail; where shims necessary?

No issues at all with clearance! I called Huntertown Arms before I purchased the upper to make sure.

Looking forward to seeing the X300U mounted with the front BUIS. I have a X300U on the way and I was thinking of running mine the same way on a 13.5" NSR.

How's it shoot with the Kestrel?

I have that same can waiting for a stamp and and LMT CQB SBR upper waiting for the same intent.

Looks good!

That is very nice! What gas system do you have on it?

Very cool price point on the Kestrel suppressor... I'd never heard of them before.

There's a local stocking dealer, too.

Shoots very well. No POI shifts on or off, and I do like the thread on for a dedicated gun. It is quieter than I thought, and it heats up VERY quick. My next one will be a QD though, unsuppressed SBR's are so light and fun to shoot!

Feel sorry for the criminal who applies a stereotype to you...

"Yeah man, let's hit this dude's house, he plays the piano or some shit. No way in hell he's armed!"

Good looking rifle. That 8 month wait time is killer though

Nice rig ! I have a Mk18 setup very similar for my "bedroom" rifle.

Saw this on reddit a day or two ago. ;)

Awesome gun. Wouldn't change a damn thing.

That .. is .. beautiful. I don't have much else to add to this thread except that. Nice build man

Have you had the chance to shoot with the kestrel on yet? Curious as to how people feel about it.

Yes. I like it. I would like it even better if it had a solid QD system, but for $400...

I'm curious about the Kestrel as well. The price point is appealing but I'd like to hear a comparison with other cans.

I wish I could have a suppressor in CA, your pics made me die a little inside.
