Troy BUIS - Real or Fake?

I bought 2 sets of Troy Rear Folding BUIS from a member in a EE forum.. He said that they are from approximately 2007. I understand that there could possibly be some small hardware changes to these sights since 2007, but I just want to be sure these are not fake or Airsoft.

Thoughts??

1. No markings on the allen screw.
2. No screwdriver slot on the adjustment knob
3. No troy marked stamp/logo on the bottom/rear of the sight
4. The windage hash marks are on the front of the sight, away from the shooter.

Primary Arms Troy BUIS has screw driver slot on adjustment knob. Also on the Primary Arms Troy BUIS the "R" for right, and arrow is engraved. On the sight in question, the "R" and arrow is painted on/ not engraved.

Primary Arms Troy BUIS has marking on bottom of sights. Reads;
troy industries inc, made in USA, has a lot #, and a troy logo.

I can't help other than to say make sure you email the pics to Troy. They would know for sure. I'd have concerns, too. Hope they are legit.

I handled a set of admitted fakes (by the seller) at a gun show in December and they had the windage marks on the front but they also had a faint troy logo on the underside. The giveaway with them for me was how terrible the upward and downward movements were; gritty and fragile feeling.

Also the small aperture on the one in your picture looks noticeably larger than your confirmed real set unless the picture is playing tricks on me. ETA: Also just noticed the thread pattern on the windage screw. Not even close.

i dont think it is (playing tricks on you.) i think they're different. it doesnt look like a perspective or lens distortion problem at all to me.

the bevel on the inside of the large aperture is quite a bit different as well...

I think they are real but Troy will be the only ones who can confirm that 100%. I know that earlier Troy rear sights had the 8 holes in the windage adjustment rather than the 10 that are on the current version. Also, that laser engraving looks like what I remember the early version looking like. I can check around to see if I can find any examples but no reason really if you have contacted Troy. Let us know.

I'm going to go ahead an call that real in case you don't hear back from Troy. They look exactly like the older version (Gen2 maybe) to me but I don't know much about the fakes so unless they are really damn good at making them look exactly alike then I really do think it is legit.

Two troy reps confirmed that these sights are legit. Just older sights. They pretty much touched on the points that midscarolina mentioned.
I think this would be a good thread for others to look back on incase anyone else runs into this issue. I guess there are still older sights floating around.

Some of our older sights do have a PN number on the front. The roll pins we use now are pressed in by amachine. If you see on the new sight it is a"tighter spiral". Counterfeit sights have 2 or 3different types of fount on the sight. A good rule is if it doesn't have a Lot# on it just shoot us a email with a few pictures. If the font on the lot number is different than the font on "Troy Industries" it could be a counterfeit.

Majority of the counterfeits Isee are purchased from gun shows and online auction websites. Especially, if it is being shipped from a different country.

Just to add, I have an earlier troy flip up rear sight that came to me from a friend off of an S&W M&P15. It has the troy info on the bottom side, the yfs marked allen screw, front side windage marks and the 8 hole no slot windage knob.

Having found it tough to adjust I contacted troy to see about obtaining the updated slotted knob. Once I got the parts I found that apparently troy had changed the threads along the way so my existing aperture wouldn't work on the new knob and shaft.

Troy kindly sent the parts(w/extra spring, ball bearing, screw and escutcheon) free of charge even after I mentioned paying for them. I just don't have it in me to hit them up for the compatable aperture when I didn't actually purchase the sight in the first place. I determined it works fine as is and its still holding the line
