I decided to get a top-tier quality upper for an extra PSA lower I have in my safe and build a 16" carbine rather than pay $1,500+ for one.

For the upper I decided on Bravo Company 16". What should I be focusing on when it comes to the barrel? I've been looking for hammer forged but all I see are the vanadium barrels. I know CHF barrels are supposed to last a lot longer, but are the vanadium better/equal or lesser quality?

Or should I go with another company like DD?

You're wanting to build the upper or buy an assembled one? If you're building I'd get this and not look back: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-BFH-16-Mid-Length-Barrel-Stripped-p/bcm-brl-s-mid-16%20bfh.htm

If you want an assembled upper Bravo Company 16" BFH Midlength uppers have been coming in stock periodically. Just snatch one of those when they're available.

Ah yes, I'm sorry. Left that part out... an ALREADY pre-assembled one.
