Anyone have any experience with Parallax Tactical rails or the company, in general? Their web site is down, so no company link. Thanks for any help.

I have zero experience with them but that is certainly an interesting looking rail.
I saw their rails somewhere online awhile back and thought they looked interesting. They're on Facebook...they have a lot of pictures of their stuff and I'm pretty sure they can be contacted as well
No experience with them, but definitely an interesting looking rail system. Tagged for later.
They are a local shop (to me) in San Diego and are one of the better ones around. They took down the website during the panic as they didn't have any inventory and from what I hear are rebuilding it as it was a little janky at best. They aren't the best at responding to phone calls but will respond to almost everything via Facebook and are good peeps.
As for the rail, I've only held it mounted to a rifle and it is really slim in the middle and extremely light. Wish I could speak to how it mounts or how it installs, but overall it feels like a decent rail for the money. They are getting a little gimmicky with all the colors they are offering, but if that is your thing then go for it.

they were pretty cheap at AIM, under $200. They said that they are compatible with MOE rail sections

Thanks all. I haven't found anything negative, so I might order a 13" or 15" to try. I've been trying to find info or pics on the barrel nut, but no dice. I'll check their Facebook.
This looks really cool. I like that it takes magpul accessories in the middle. Are there any panels that would fit that area?
What barrel nut does it use?

Proprietary.
I haven't shot one personally, but I've given them a look over several times in the shop. I know Joe (the owner of Parallax) has put a lot of time into their development as every time I was in, it seemed like he had another round out of the machine shop. Overall, it feels pretty good and seems to be worth taking a flier on. If you don't like it, send it back. Parallax has a great reputation in town.
Just sold my 13" off my stainless middy. It's a solid rail. as another member said. it does not use a standard barrel nut it's a sleeve type. The middle section is extremely thin so it can heat it up pretty quick depending on rate of fire.

I am another local that will vouch for Parallax tactical. I don't have experience with their rails, but they are the best shop in town and have great customer service. They aren't the best on the phone, but that is because they are always so busy that rarely is someone free to pick up the phone. They do all my assembly work if I don't have tools for something and they do a good job. I have spent thousands of dollars through them in the last couple years and they have kept me happy.
Anyone tried one yet? Thinking about maybe trying one for my next build but want to get some reviews first.
They're local to me, and have a good reputation around here. Too bad I can never get ahold of them via phone. Lol.

Sure does
I have that rail. It was the first one to leave PSA when they started specing them on this upper (http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-sqr13-pencil-premium-16-mid-length-cmv-cl-stripped-upper-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html). It is very solid, much more so than say a MI G2 SS12 which I have and as sturdy as my DD V5. I have not noticed much heat as it is quite a bit thicker material than said MI G2 SS12 and on par with DD. As for Magpul accessoriy rails I have not tried them. Overall I have had the rail for about 4 months and cannot complain. It fits perfectly between a full rails and tubes of the same length with weight falling between as well albeit closer to a full rail than a tube. Their barrel nut is a hoss and I have not noticed a bit of slippage in any direction.
Here is the thread on ARFCOM (http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_301/233672_SQR_Rail_.html) about the PSA version.

You can get them at PSA here. (http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/palmetto-state-armory-sqr-13.html)
Also as a side note, my upper is a mid lenght with a medium weight barrel. I do wish I had used a light weight barrel.
Looks like the PSA version doesnt have the slots in the center section. I wonder if it is heavier because of this. Also does this mean it cannot accept magpul accessories?
I will check when I get home, but i think you are correct.

I really like the looks of this. Would love to see it in action or handle it.

Yeah me too. I would like to buy a KAC URX 3.1 but its out of my price range and i hear the wrench to install it is expensive as well. If this is a more affordable option with the added bonus of taking readily accessible magpul parts i think it'll be great. The only thing holding me back is that there is very little user feedback so far (not necessarily a deal breaker since i havent heard any negative feedback either) and that you can get a proven rail system like a troy unit for the same price or less.
I just ordered one. I've been eyeballing them at PSA's site for a while, and with the barrel/handguard deal they have going, I couldn't say no.
All I need for the rest of the build now is a decent trigger and a gas block and gas tube.

What is the barrel/handguard deal? I checked their site but didnt see it.

No slots on the PSA so I am sure it is heavier but cannot imagine by much. I don't see a need for accessories there, but if you do I would go with the Parallax.

Look on their facebook "store". No photo for it, but they offer barrel and handguard together.

I'm glad to see support from the horse's mouth.
How does one sign up as a stocking dealer?
Hello,
I figured this was as good of a thread to introduce myself as any. I handle wholesale/dealer sales at Parallax and I'll try to answer questions here when I can.
Our rail system has been very popular with the dealers who are stocking it, and I've been using one on my current AR for over a year now. I can tell you that I've fired many, many rounds through it without ever noticing heat--I don't wear gloves while shooting and haven't needed to since putting on the FFSSR.
I'm attaching a pic of my AR with our rail, paracomp and other parts that are hidden under the rail.

I love the rail and will be picking up another at PSA next saturday.
I am installing one.
Need a barrel shim kit.
Installed one of these the other night. Went on fine. It's a very nice rail, I wish they made an 11" one for my SBR.
I installed a Parallax Tactical Rail 13" rail and a 16" Daniel Defense lightweight barrel on a friend's rifle. Essentially, we built the upper.
The Parallax tacitcal barrel nut required a spikes tactical shim kit to align properly.
The barrel nut aligned properly with the proper shims and the rail slipped over the low profile gas block and was attached to the barrel nut with 6 bolts.

This is the final configuration for this rifle with the Primary Arms 1-4x on a Primary Arms Mount as the Optic.
My intial thoughts:
1. It isn't too heavy. The rail feels relatively light compared to the old rails that I have installed in the past.
2. The profile feels great in the hand. Its slim enough that you can get a good grip.
3. The rail isn't KeyMod compatible so I don't see this as a truly modular design
4. the price is right.
5. The mounting system: I don't think it is nearly as solid as the Daniel Defense DD Lite rail system, but it is lower profile.
6. Installation: It was pretty simple to install. There are no gas tube holes to line up. The hardest part is getting the correct alignment with the barrel nut to allow the top rail to line up even with the upper receiver rail.

We will be shooting the rifle next week. I will add some more to this review.

Here is a photo of the intial zero group.
Took the rifle to the impact zone on Friday. My friend zeroed the rifle at 100yards.
The optic has about a 1ish MOA dot and was set at 4x.
We had a 1/2 value wind gusting to 10-12mph from the left rear.
Federal XM198 55gr ball was used.
The initial 5 shot group was 4.68" or MOA with two flyers.
the best 3 shot were a little over 1".[/quote]
We ran out of time and with the wind blowing we reached the point of diminishing returns for determing the potential for this rifle, optic and ammo.
How about some pictures of the rifle.
Just a quick "FYI" note. The barrel nut of the PXT rail is machined with 1-1/8-inch flats, necessitating the use of a crow's foot wrench. The flats are machined precisely 0.500-inch wide. The 1-1/8-inch crow's foot wrench I ordered is 0.6125 wide. The thickness of the wrench was something I'd never even considered. D'oh!

Time to break out the grinder.
I was going to chuck it up in the Bridgeport and mill off 1/8-inch, but then I remembered I don't have a Bridgeport.
The 4.5" Ryobi angle grinder will have to do.
I buy cheaper wrenches and grind them all the time for special applications. You will be fine for what limited torque that thing needs. However, if you went and bought a crows foot you can put it on a torque wrench.
no experience with hand rails, but purchased a nib-x m16 bcg w/mpi tested and marked bolt and all the mil spec steel.not sure id hpt`d or batch for that.it is every bit of what I could ask.i ordered through facebook which I just let them know what product I wanted, then they sent me a link to pay via a payment system with credit card.shipping was prompt.no problems with their product.weapons outfitters carries their stuff.

Is Parallax making these rails for PSA? I ask because I recently had a conversation with a higher up at PSA recently who mentioned they were producing their own rails etc.
I just want to get clarification for my own personal inquiry

I don't know who you spoke with, but the "PSA SQR" rails are made for us.

How are these holding up? Are they rugged enough to be deemed GTG?
I just installed mine on Friday, so no durability reports yet, but that barrel nut sure went on easy, and was within a few degrees of dead nuts @ 30 ft.-lbs.
ETA- This is not the PSA version, though this thread seems to have drifted that direction.

It seems very nice, especially at its price point. I borrowed one for pictures do an installation guide for a buddy, and then told him I would need to keep it. I don't find myself wanting much in the way of rails, but I liked this one.

from that view, it has a really nice symmetry to the design. not that it matters in usefulness but one of the things that irks me about AR rails is how they look attached to the upper.
Here's a pic of the PSA version mounted on M&P lower:

Thanks stick, your opinion means a lot to me because god knows you've handled a lot of rails. I've decided I'm gonna pull the trigger on one for my next build unless the BCM rail is out by then- which i'll have to take a look at. I'd be very interested in the installation guide if it will be available to the public.

Anybody have any weight figures on these? Their site is pretty sparse. Outside width at the narrow flats where the Magpul accessory slots are?

They are pretty light. Monday I can get you exact measurements.
