View Full Version : ddm4v2 carbine or ddm4v5 midlength
and go..... Which would you want or have and why. Might be buying a new AR and I have DDs right now so I figure why buck the trend.
Carbine or midlenth, pick one. I'd take the middy for the longer rail and sight radius, in fact I did. Have had a V3 for three years now.
Coin toss, either way you are getting a quality piece. I have had a V3 for 4 years and I am very satisfied with it. If I had to do it again, I would have gotten a V5 as I would have liked to add whatever scope I wanted with out the FSB blurred in the sight picture. Not a big deal, I have a T-1 on the V3 and the lower 1/3 picture works very well for me. Good luck.
I have both and pick the V5 most often. I like the slick top of the 5 and tend to shoot it a hair quicker. Both are excellent and you won't go wrong either way.

Do a search and flip a coin?
I only shoot carbine gas because I despise the word 'middy'.
Midlength systems always feel smoother to me when I'm shooting.
Feel is very subjective, of course, but given my druthers I'd rather shoot a midlength.

I have a V5 and a V7, and these are my feelings as well. YMMV
Good luck!

Which "DDs" do you have now? I personally want a Centurion complete rifle as my next AR if I can get one.

The V1 balances really nicely, with the short rail, but I'd go with the V5 for more flexibility with optics, sights and railspace. In fact, I went with the V5 Lightweight.

Sorry, I could not help it.
I'd get the midlength one. Actually, I'd get a different brand AR. Since you already have DD's.
