I'm in the process of having some 1911 work done. What are the current recommendations for hammers, sears and disconnectors? I'm looking for the best quality and not concerned about price. This will not be a heavy use competition gun just a general purpose piece (fun & defense).

Any info, recommendations or experiences with various parts are appreciated.

If you don't have any prior taste, preference or experience with various parts and you're using a competent and reputable pistolsmith, I would trust him to pick out the parts. Other than that, Cylinder & Slide, EGW, Ed Brown, Wilson, Clark and Greider all make good parts. I have my preference for certain parts by certain manufacturers, so I told my pistolsmith that I want just those couple of parts, like how they fit my hand, etc. I don't care about which internal parts he choose.

I tend to go with Cylinder and Slide and have good results.

I've used EGW for several different parts and always had good success.

Thanks for the advice. Last set I bought was in 2003. Went with the Dane Burns unit. Has worked well but I'm looking some a new supplier.
