Too much seriousness going on as of late, and this board needs more comedy. Maybe some good sig lines will pop up. Lol.

Easy call.

Montanadave's quote makes me laugh every time I see it; easily the benchmark "10."

I also always enjoy JSantoro's sig lines, but now I'm jumping ahead of the process. ;)

Unfortunately, my own sig line (didn't have one at all for years) isn't necessarily reflective of my sense of humor. Just a reflection of some very old views that still ring true. Even at that, I'll likely pull it after a while, as it is tough to find one statement that conveys a message that is truly worth re-airing a half-dozen times a day.

I also always enjoy JSantoro's sig lines, but now I'm jumping ahead of the process. ;)

AC

I think your sig line was the right call.

(And I can't have a JSantoro sig line because every time I try to pick one to quote, I get lost in a sea of his wordsmith. You know how Jason Burton is with 1911s? That's how JSantoro is with words/insults.)

montanadave's is one among many that got a short but loud bark of laughter the first time I read it. It's good to have a "Henchwoman," is it not?

Another is part of Skintop's. T'would appear he's walking the heights, as the 2012 Zumba Endurance Champion. I hope everybody stood for the anthem at the awards ceremony. :D

It's from Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, the guy who wrote No Country for Old Men. Characters name is Judge Holden and he makes Chigurh from No Country look like a pussy. He has a lot of great quotes in the book.

You're the second person to recommend that book to me, I'll have to pick it up this weekend.

Here's Jeremy Clarkson reviewing the BMW 1M, which is where I got the quote from (quote at 2:36):

It's a difficult read. McCarthy wrote it in the vernacular of the time and he doesn't use quotation marks. Here's another quote for you from the Judge:

“A man's at odds to know his mind cause his mind is aught he has to know it with. He can know his heart, but he dont want to. Rightly so. Best not to look in there. It aint the heart of a creature that is bound in the way that God has set for it. You can find meanness in the least of creatures, but when God made man the devil was at his elbow. A creature that can do anything. Make a machine. And a machine to make the machine. And evil that can run itself a thousand years, no need to tend it.”

I wouldn't say he hates Americans, I'm just not sure that he likes anyone ;)

He certainly doesn't fit the typical British mold, given that he loves guns and large displacement engines. He's also as far from an environmentalist as you can get, to spite the protesters outside his house on Earth Day a few years ago he pulled his diesel Range Rover next to a tree in his yard and then left it idling for the entire day. He does love American cars from what I gather as well.

I've read McCarthy before, and you're right. They're not books that you can just pick up and browse through. I think that's one reason I love his writing, because he makes it worth the work.

I think you attribute an undeserved level of maturity to most of us.

Perhaps "Wittiest Junior High Cafeteria Monitor" would be more appropriate?
