Has anyone used one of these? I've searched and can only really find any information about their lowers(which seem to be OK) and their M1A/M14 rifles(which seem to be excellent).

I was hoping for "ok" at the price point they are being sold at. If machining/dimensional tolerances are poor, that's what I'm looking to hear so I can continue to look elsewhere for uppers.

The upper will likely be cerakoted, so quality of the finish is not important.

I have two lowers that are LRBs and 3 three of their uppers (http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=100000354&dir=700|863|1069). What sold me was their price point and that it was made of 7075 (http://www.lrbarms.com/ar15receivers.html)aluminum. Some 'name brand' receivers cost more using a lesser aluminum.

FWIW, the uppers are also keyhole marked (if that means anything to you). But some say the keyhole marked uppers came from one of the machining companies that have a longer reputation in the industry (this is arguable).

There is something that has to be said about the finish though. If you're gong to Cerakote then that shouldn't be an issue.

The matching LRB upper/lower setups I have, do have a little racking twist/play between the two. But I have the same amount of play in my forged spikes set as well (not that either brand is tier 1 or anything).

I think LRB is good to go.

The forge marking you are referring to means jack shit. It's nothing more than the foundry where the aluminum came from.

More importantly is the company who actually machined the end product.
