I searched but got nothing.

I was looking at getting a single stack 45 and im interested in hearing from those who have experience with the mentioned handgun. I know the 4506/66 all steel have a good rep but how are their alloy frame models? Do they hold up? Are they prone to cracking or breaking. Anything you could tell me would be great.

I realize they are no longer made.

The TSW variants are the way to go with the 3rd generation Smiths. I havent had an issue with any of my alloy frame guns, but I know the .40 variants had shorter life spans than the steel frames.

I dont foresee you have any issues with one other than finding mags (not that bad), holsters or spare parts

Thanks

Midway has mags and so does a semi local gun shop. Parts are a bit of a pain in the ass to find but they are out there. Right before the frenzy Numrich, Midway and Brownells had about 90% of the parts. The 45XX fit my 59XX holsters

I had a 457 that I *loved* but had to sell. I still miss it. Yeah, it's a "value-line" but you really couldn't tell shooting it...and market is $1-200 less than a 4516.

As far as holsters? Here (http://www.ccwsupply.biz/RGLSW457451345534516.htm)

Yeah...my avatar? That's my 645. I'll *never* sell that one!
