Hello, My department just got rifle racks and the guy at the shop who installed them said he heard some guys are using locking takedown pins so their rifles cant be disassembled and taken away by errant youths. I never heard of these and can only find one product at Brownell's that is advertised as tightening the play between the upper & lower which I don't care about. Anybody ever hear of or have experience with such a product. Suggestions or opinions appreciated. Thanks.

I've heard of people running button head hex bolts through with nylock nuts. Maybe that's what he's talking about?

The HK MR556 comes with pivot & take down pins that have recessed buttons that unlock them. Tool required.
KNS makes push button locking pins that do not require a tool.

That sounds like a solution in search of a problem.

Did you not understand what the OP gave as a reason?

The idea is solid, I'm not sure of who makes anything like that. I think the problem is that they would be a very limited market, which would also make them pretty expensive.

As posted above by kdcgrohl, H&K makes them.
Order a set from them or a reseller and decide if it is what you are looking for.
