I googled, checked the knowledge base, and also the stickies at ARfcom. Still puzzled. Ok, not a total newbie - I was shooting AR's even back in a different time. Dick Nixon was in the White House, and the president used the IRS to harass his enemies. Things were different then. Oh crap, they really weren't, were they?

OK, on task: I have had an S&W m4gery a while, then traded up and got this Colt I lusted for. It has a generic 6-pos. carbine stock on it but before I shoot it tomorrow, I am going to put the original CS A1 stock and handguards back on it. So since I do not have the receiver plate to stake into when I install the extension/ buffer tube, do I just blue loc-tite it and torque it to what, or...?

Needs to go back on this:

No blue loctite. Just torque the rifle RE in place. it is the stock itself that prevents it from backing out. You do have the rifle buffer and spring to go with it right?

Ah, of course. The screw through the stock will hold it. Duh. Thanks for setting me straight.

Yes, I have the original rifle buffer and spring. Thanks for checking, though.
