View Full Version : Water-logged Ammo?
Federal factory ammo, got wet from a flooded warehouse. Will it work? Other than tumbling, anything else required?
What kind/Cal of Federal ammo? How long soaked? How much are we talking?
It really depends. Non military ammo can get water in the powder charge.
I'd probably slow fire a nice random sample to see if you get any problems.
American Eagle, 223/9mm. 2days soaking.
If the .223 is LC brass, the primers will be sealed. But the powder charge could still be contaminated.
If you have a buddy who reloads you could have him pull some of the bullets to see what the powder charges look like.
It's hard to say for sure that the ammo is safe.

Plier off a few bullet heads and pour the powder out on a piece of copy paper and see if its clumped together. And if not shoot it. Slow fire of course, the worst is it will do is stick in your barrel. take a cleaning rod w/ you.
