I am very new to reloading and wanted to get "recipes" for Barnes 62 and 70g TSX that works for you guys. I have Hodgdon BLC-2 powder.

And also:
I thought I understood what made .223 and 5.56 different (mostly the higher pressures in the 5.56?) but where does this come in to play when reloading? As an example, I have brass from 5.56 M855 rounds I've been using at the range, Hodgdon BLC-2 powder and Barnes 62g TSX bullets. Does it only matter what amount of powder/strength of the charge that makes the difference?

Thanks

Skypup started a thread on the 70gr. TSX and he shares his load data. Big thread with lots of info and pics of the efficacy of that projo in hunting applications, specifically hogs.

In fact, I think he uses BLC-2.

Pressure is really the only deference between a .223 load and a 5.56 load and that will be affected by your powder charge, primer, compression, etc. Most load data that you'll find from manufacturers will be .223 pressure although some do list 5.56, I believe Barnes is one of them. Make sure to shoot 5.56 pressure rounds out of a 5.56 NATO chamber ONLY, and start low and work your way up!

I load my 70gr TSX with Varget as of right now. May switch to H322 at some point since I'm getting really nice results with my 77gr Noslers.

However, PM me your email address and I can send you load data for all the TSX bullets that was given to me by Barnes' Tech Support. I'm fairly certain you will be able to find what you're looking for there.

I've been loading them over Varget as well at 5.56 pressure. I agree on the H322 though...

My 70gr TSX load is with 24.0gr of N140. Lake City brass, Remington 7 1/2 primer and a COAL of 2.250". I get an average muzzle velocity of 2723 fps out of my 16" LMT MRP.
