View Full Version : Mystery die-thing
Got a box of misc reloading stuff at an auction for cheap and this was in it, I have absolutely no idea what it is. I am think maybe it is a swaging tool of some sort but I don't know for sure.
Anybody know what this thing is and what it's used for?

Are the inside walls straight all the way through?
Yeah, same size all the way through.
I looked in google images, and bullet feeder die looks the closest.(to me )

It may be a file type trim die for a handgun cartridge. After case is run into die, excess length is filed off, but since it's not labeled, it probably has another purpose. Is a lock ring included?
Email a photo to Dave, owner of CH4D and provide size of top opening. CH4D makes the world's largest selection of reloading dies, and if Dave can't tell you, then it's an A bomb secret.
Closest thing I can find....... and I'm not even sure what that is.

For the OP, looks like it could be a bullet sizing die for cast or swaged projectiles.
It looks like a cast bullet sizing die. Measure the I.D. with a dial indicator and post the measurement.
I thought trim die. But could be bullet swage too.

That looks more like a lee fcd. All the collet pullers I have seen have a handle on the die it self to tighten the collet so the bullet can be pulled.
I thought trim die...........
That's a possibility.

This is a Lee Factory Crimp Die. I have no clue what is in the picture the OP has.

It looks like a bullet sizing die or some type of swaging die.

Looks like a swage die for forming your own copper jackets. It should have a ram that goes with it. It would be one of the final steps in swageing the jacket before inserting the lead/wire/guts of the projectile.
