I'm taking out the trash tonight and found this in my backyard. My community is only 5 years old and is fairly secluded. 10 years ago it was a prime dove hunting spot.

I took the pictures next to the firing pin out of my 6920. They definitely are similar. Have they changed the firing pin over the years?

By the way I shoot suppressed a lot.

LOL. No. That's a duplex nail. Its used for temporary projects so that you can pound it in flush with the first head, leaving the second exposed so you can remove it.

I never realized they looked like a firing pin but your right

They use those nails quite often in the stakes for concrete forms.

Definitely a nail. However, I've seen an industrious sort make a firing pin out of those types of nails.

.
If the date was: May 26, 2025,
That would be a post-ban adapted firing pin which was common after Obama's 4th term. Normal firing pins were outlawed in 2021, so this was very common years ago.

Those nails got outlawed in 2022.

The SS feds will probably be knocking on your door tonight...run, man, run...

Why, that's a factory NEW Pac West Armory (PWA) firing pin!!! Comes from the factory pre-bent, so as to give you the unexpected 2-shot burst capability! :jester:

If you owned a PWA AR back in the day, you KNOW what I'm talking about. NEVER saw a PWA that didn't bend the firing pin. I think the secret ingredient to their wonderful pins was, antimony... :o

I am pretty sure the one you found is a new DPMS firing pin. Its hard to see the quality, but its there.
