Picked this up last week, just pulled her apart and cleaned it, lubed it up...hoping to get to the range tomorrow or Thurs morning.

It's a Steyr AUG A3 CQC (which refers to that rail on the front of the rifle), picked it up from Pete Athens of pjs-steyraug.com. Highly recommend him for anyone else looking for an AUG...he is pretty much the go-to AUG guy in the US and is great to deal with.

Very nice. i just got a new A3 AUG about 2 weeks ago. I almost went the route you did, but decided I didn't want the extra weight. However, that does look sweet!

It is heavy but it is well balanced. The extra rail slips off very easily. The interface is well designed and locks up very tight.

I still think I want a 20" barrel for mine and a green stock. Back to the classic look. Works very well with an ACOG.

I had a CQC also and sold it, weighed a ton, I am also waiting for the 20" and green stock.
I have a 905 series that has digested 10K asst 5.56 no problems.

How different do the two feel (905 series and CQC)? Where does the weight sit between the two?

Put 60 rounds of 55gr PMC through it today. I used to think AR15s had barely any recoil...but this AUG is even better! Very smooth shooting...I see why people complain about the trigger, but honestly its not that bad. It's not some super light, match trigger by any means...but I compare it to my HKs - they're built to be rugged, "combat" trigger that work, not necessarily aid the shooter in shooting sub-MOA under ideal conditions...so it is what it is, but it works!

I had a few "failure to feeds"...When I pulled it apart and cleaned it before going I didnt take the gas regulator apart to clean/lube. When I got home I took it back apart to clean and got the gas regulator apart and was surprised how dirty it was. So I'm going to attribute the fail-to-feeds to a dirty gas regulator and hopefully just some normal break in.

It's all cleaned and ready to go, so I'll put another 50-75 rounds through it tomorrow morning. It was shooting incredibly straight with the Aimpoint I have on it too...still need to tweak it just a tad to get it right on, but it was grouping 100% acceptably considering a 4 MOA Aimpoint (and not the best shooter!).

I'm curious to see how it holds its zero after cleaning, since the barrel has to be removed for disassembly. I've read it holds zero perfectly, but I'd like to see it for myself.

For those that own them, since the rail offsets from the bore so much, is a mount that high for an RDS really necessary? Anyone try an RDS on this weapon with and without a mount? Results?

Some speak of the heft associated with the CQC. What is the weight of a Tavor vs. the CQC?

I'd love to put a few mags through that hipster gun as it sits with the aimpoint.
