View Full Version : Homemade hand stop ?
I never found exactly what I wanted to fit directly on my Troy Alpha rail so I made one. The problem now is getting it anodized. Does anyone know of a shop that will blast and hard coat a single part? I am almost sure the stock is 6061 if that matters. Thanks in advance, GH

Considering the use the part is being put to, anodizing isn't needed. It can be left bare, or it can be painted. I don't know how much it'd cost to have it anodized- maybe it can be done cheap. If not, just paint it
If you a do it your self kind of guy get some brownells alumahyde, or get it cerakoted.

I dont think anodizing is necessary. paint it if you want it black or just leave it alone
Make another one out of black delrin instead of aluminum.

I actually thought about doing it with plastic but I worried about the heat transferring through the cap screw being so close to the barrel. I may still do it if can find some fiber filled round stock, Thanks, GH
Delrin will be fine with the heat.
Build the handstop to hold a nyloc nut inside the stop, it will be fine.

Looks like an octopus arm hand guard.
So what did you use, aluminum round stock and taper turn it, then drill/ tap it?

Thanks for the idea Grip. I got a 2' stick of Delrin for 5 bucks. Unfortunately shipping was $9!! Machines like butter but it feels a lot stiffer than Nylon. Getting the mat finish was easy. GH
