I was told by one of the mods here that we could come back to the topic once I finished building out a custom billet 80% lower I finished milling. As some of you may know, it is a radical design that is without a doubt an acquired taste. Some hated it and others purchased some because they liked the design.

Well, I have a new design that's a little bit more toned down and not as radical. I just finished it today and it will be getting Alodined and coated with a ceramic powder coat next week. It's still 7075 T7 with all of the same features such as a tension screw and a threaded bolt catch/release pin.

Here is the original design sporting a BCM upper. Everything went together perfect with not even the slightest bit of play between receivers. I've put about 500 rounds through her with no failures as of yet.

Not my favorite design but an 80% has me very interested. Seriously want a standard profile AR lower. At least 'standard' enough so a RediMag will work.
Did you do the final work on the lower?

Yea, I don't think the RediMag will work on these but I know what you mean. I like them as well.

When you ask if I finished the final work, are you asking if I finished it out to 100%?

Yes sir. Well at least did you complete the other '20%'. ;)

Yup. I did it on a CNC machine. I have some experience with them from my past job.

Yup. I did it on a CNC machine. I have some experience with them from my past job. Pretty easy as long as you have the codes, jigs and access to a CNC machine of course.

Well if/when I do purchase an 80% lower you may become my new best friend.:)

Is there anything special about the holes on the trigger guard or just "speed holes"?

very "seekins-esque"

They serve no purpose.

Got a new color for the SHTF rifle I'm getting ready to build. The coating itself is pretty crazy and nothing like I've seen yet. It's about as flat as flat can get and it has a real nice rough texture to it. When looking at it up close, it almost looks like a piece of rubber.

What is it?

It's a Ceramic Powder coating the military uses.

It's some pretty tough stuff. Just to give you an idea. It takes about 5-10 minutes to bead blast an anodized or Cerakoated receiver. This stuff takes about 20 minutes.

The lower is really nice. I would call it a work of art. The more I look at it the more I like it.

Steve, it's definitely a love it or hate it type thing.

I will say this. Roughly 900 have been sold over the past few months and every single person who has handled one or seen one in person say's they can't believe the quality of the machine work.

Pictures really don't do these lowers justice. When people look at a picture of it, they usually love it or hate it. Also, just like you, the design starts to grow on them.

There are two well known distributors that we've all ordered parts from before that are currently in talks over a contract to sell these lowers. The one distributor wants 100 of each design a month to start off with. Once I know when these are going out to the distributors, I will post where and how much you can pick one up for.
