What type proof marks or other marking features are typically found on a genuine Colt upper (receiver)?

I searched the forums and didn't come across a post that addressed this question.

Thanks

Humm... my Colt shot several hundred rounds of wolf during it first outing a few weeks back.

The the OP, I don't really have an answer. I'm sure someone will have a better answer for you.

Right before the forge mark it will have a C.

So it will have the "C" and then some other symbol beside the "C"?

Do these "forge marks" vary, or is the forge mark always the same?

I guess It would help to see various phots if there are several different combinations of "C's" and Forge marks depending on when/where the receiver was made.

Thanks

Or not? My 6920 has a Cerro and Diemaco mark, but no C.

Not every Colt upper receiver has the C mark. If it does, you're good, but if it doesn't you still don't know. If it's a complete upper the barrel, bolt and bolt carrier should have C marks. Mine do, anyway.

My Colts have come like this thus far or some combination of D or C

D on carrier
MPC on Bolt
C on Upper next to forge mark
C on barrel

Some Colt Defense rifles have shipped with Diemaco M16 carriers and have the Diemaco mark instead of the typical C on the left side.

My 6920 has a "C and Cerro Forge" mark on the right side of the receiver
above the foward assist.

I just looked inside the upper of my 6920 in the groove in which the charging handle slides and there, just abeam of the rearmost carry handle attachment knob, is a big ol' stamped "C"! Plus all the other stuff VB and gotm4 outline is there, so I guess everything is GTG!

Ooops, I have a Diemaco upper has the stylized "D" and the splintered "A" forge mark. I would've swore it had a "C" on it.
