Just finished up another AR build, and wanted to share it here. I am VERY happy with the outcome on this one. It feels and shoots like a dream come true!

Specs are as follows:

- PSA Stripped Lower Receiver
- PSA LPK
- Battle Arms Development Ambi Safety Selector (BADASS)
- Geissele SD3G Trigger
- Magpul Enhanced Aluminum Trigger Guard
- ACE Entry Length Buttstock
- H2 Heavy Buffer
- Wolf Extra Power Buffer Spring
- BCM Gunfighter Grip Mod 0 (Stippled)
- BCM Upper Receiver
- BCM Gunfighter Ambi Charging Handle Mod 4
- Rubber City Armory (RCA) BCG
- Troy Industries Battlesight Rear Flip Up
- Troy Industries Battlesight Front HK Style Flip Up
- Mossberg OEM 16" M4 Profile 1x7 Melonite Barrel
- Spikes Tactical Dynacomp Extreme
- Troy Industries 13" Alpha Rail
- Insight WML Haley Strategic Partners Edition in HSP Thorntail Mount
- Aimpoint T1 4MOA In Larue Mount

I think that about covers it. I had it out and blasted through a couple hundred rounds, and am very pleased with the performance. Accuracy is quite good - better than my other Spikes M4LE carbine. It ran reliably with 30 rd PMAGs and 20rd Lancer mags.

Couple points:

- Geissele SD3G trigger is the freaking bomb. End of discussion.
- Aimpoint T1 is the best red dot sight on the market period.
- A free float tube forearm is more useful, lighter, and feels better than a quad rail.
- Insight WML is a very quality piece.
- Mossberg Melonite 1x7 barrel is for real. For the $140 I paid, I'm more than satisfied.
- Spike's Tactical Dynacomp Extreme works extremely well. Better than... BCM Gunfighter Comp Mod1 in my opinion/experience.

Now, on to the pictures!

Good looking stick.

I am interested to see how long that barrel will last you. When groups start opening up, please come back and tell us.

Also why that stock?

Seeing as how the barrel is finished in Melonite inside and out, I would imagine it's going to last a long time?

Why the ACE stock? I like them, and have a couple of them. They are solid as a rock, and the length is right for me.

I guess why have a plastic adjustable stock with a cool brand name just to say you have a plastic adjustable stock with a cool brand name? If it's important then great, but for me, it's not. I have tried them in the past and never adjust the length after dialing it in, so I transitioned to these that are right every time.

Nice build! I live in a ban state so I have interest in fixed stocks. I have the ACE Entry on a carbine I built for my wife. I like it as well. It's a shame that, AFAIK, ACE is not building one to suite the A5.

In your spec listing, your barrel is 16". I'm curious why you went w/ the Spikes Extreme Dynacomp vs. the Short Dynacomp? I have the Short version on another carbine and find the blast very acceptable vs. the Battlecomp I had tried from a fellow inmate's setup.

Also, how do you like the BCM grip? I've tried the smaller one and didn't like it.

Regarding barrel choice, very interesting on the Mossberg. Please post up some accuracy results when you get a chance. I'd love to pick the S&W melonited 1x8 5R barrel that comes on some their better carbines. Accuracy is supposed to be very good on that barrel.

Thanks! Honestly, I had the Extreme laying around and at the time got the longer one because it was in stock, and the short one wasn't. The extra length doesn't bother me.

I really like the BCM grips. I like a little more aggressive texture than what they come with, so I stippled this one an polished the edges down a bit and now it feels pretty good.

I think this barrel will do really well. I got it from AIM for $140 do decided to give it a shot. I will post some targets and measurements when I can actually get out again.

Very nice build! I like it a lot. But I would flip-flop the front sight and the light.

I tried it in that configuration, and the sight wouldn't fold back down without scraping the side of the light. I like it like this, the sight radius is still just a little longer than a standard A post gas block sight.

How does the break perform?

Are you a lefty? I want to set up mine similarly with BADASS safety and Mod44 CH. Which lever did you go with on the left side? Is the right side normal or thin?

I am happy with the Dynacomp. To me it felt like it kept the muzzle very neutral, and while there was increased noise and blast, it was not offensive. It's no flash hider, but it is a very good shooter. I like it better than the BCM Comp, which I felt dipped the muzzle and had subjectively more noise and blast.

Yes, I am a lefty. I have the BADASS with the long lever as shown on the RH side of the receiver and the short lever on the LH side of the receiver. I like the short lever more so than the skinny one.

Thanks! Having used EoTech XPS2 and this Aimpoint T-1, I truly feel that hands down the T-1 is the best choice out there - even at the higher price.

Looking forward to the range report - especially how that barrel performs.

I bought one & it took a lot of cleaning; it was full of black gunk. Any issue with yours? I bought it from Aim.

My barrel got sent back to Aim. The chamber throat was cut to .223 and NOT 5.56mm. I had a case blowout at the base, and then checked the chamber with a Michiguns gage.

There's a long thread in the Technical discussion area on the whole thing.

Very nice!

The 16'' barrel for my first build has finally shipped and I was just wondering what it will look like with my 13'' Troy Alpha rail....now I know.

The sight would block the light. The OP's 12 o'clock arrangement has worked well for me on my SBRs.
