Just did a quick video of this on my rifle. Changed it because we can't have retractable in NYS unless it's pinned and I just like the light minimalist look anyhow.

Any feedback on the Magpul fixed stock in New York yet?

I haven't seen anyone with them yet. Personally I just don't like the looks of them. They just seem far too bulky to me and I don't know what the length of pull is. With short arms I have to make sure I buy something that I know I can use.

Yeah. I saw that old Magpul stock you had was pinned all the way closed.

The new fixed is about 12" LOP.

HaHa, yeah I'd hardly be able to fire the rifle :)

Not to be nitpicky, but it appears that you have the castle nut on backwards after the new stock is installed. But otherwise that seems like a decent setup.

Somehow I never knew that you can have a fixed stock of retracted length around our way. Then again since I know of no stock length minimums in place I'll assume you aren't breaking any laws in having exposed this loophole of sorts.

Still, is fully retracted what you really want on a semi-permanent basis? I'm fairly tall so it wouldn't work for me personally, but I would consider a mid-length option. And I understand it's for close quarters but again, it's still essentially permanent unless you re-install.

I did yes, just noticed that. Not that it makes a whole lot of difference, I may change it later on.

As long as the rifle meets the minimum length (26") the stock can really be any length you want. The barrel still has to be 16 though so 26 total is not that hard to get considering.

Yeah my taller friends hate it like it is and it's not that I'm short, 5'11" it's just that I'm stocky and have shorter arms so it works great for me. It is permanent but the way I look at it, this is not a rifle that others are going to be shooting or that I would loan out. This is my personal rifle so it needs to fit me well.

I saw this one in a magazine article. Supposed to come out in August. I think I'm going to get one and check it out.

That's pretty cool, I like that. It retracts though so no good for me.
