Both have Tapco 20rd mags. Original mags are in storage. Both rifles are matching numbers.

Does your 53 Tula have any distinctive East German Markings?

ive got a type 56 as well, made in the 50's i think (need to double check) gun shoots just fine, but the original wooden stock was crappy, so i spent some cash on a cheap intrafuse stock, no biggie, feels ok in the hands, i wish i could have gotten the ATI but im happy! ive got a tapco 20 round as well and a blued "pro mag" 30 round. i love my SKS and have put countless rounds through it, although i will admit, i havent shot it since putting on the tapco..
heres an old pic i had:

ive had mine for about a year. havent had a single issue with it that was the weapons fault. it loves to spit out tulammo steel. its my go to, for cheap shooting fun, (other then my .22 that is!!)
