Are the prices for a new FN F2000 currently reasonable? How much did they cost new before the gun ban scare?

before this nonsense, (mid 2012) i had heard/seen fs2k "overrun"s going for 16-1800 and regular production models at around 1900+, right now, a local dealer has one on the shelf for $2500, a huge difference...

Before things went sideways I think I saw a few here and there for as low as $1400-1500 new. At least that is what I want to say, having shot one they never really interested me. That said now isn't the best time to be buying one if you are wanting any sort of normal pricing. I am still seeing absolutely ridiculous pricing on some gear.

This is not a "Beyond 5.56/.223 topic". This is an Other Assault Weapon topic.

thanks for moving it man! he might get better help here. let me add: a buddy of mine has one as well, ive shot it, too much plastic in my honest opinion. very smooth rifle, but it felt a bit "fake" but would i buy one if money were not the issue? heck yes!

My dealer cost on a FS2000 today is very very close to $2K, while $2500 is a little high, it is not unreasonable for a hard to get item.

I got mine about a year ago for $1500.

There is a lot of plastic in that gun, but it has the feel that FN was trying to make weight targets not cost.

For example, the bolt carrier runs on two stamped steel inserts that are inserted into the lower receiver. FN avoided running steel on plastic when they could have cheaped out.

The FS2000 is a interesting design that solves the problem of stuffing a long barrel into a short OAL while keeping weight low and not requiring changing setups for LH and RH shooters.

Great Britan spent £400+ million on the SA80 and got a rifle that's not half as good.

could be had for 1500 in some places a year ago.

Word on the FN forum is a product discontinuation of the FS2k.

Have fun clearing a malfunction :D

I did have fun clearing malfunctions. Not seating the mag all the way results in double feeds. Clearing them is pretty arduous:

1) Pull the CH back when the rifle doesn't fire. It comes back about 2" before the CH locks onto the op rod.
2) Realize you have a double feed. Realize continuing to yank on the CH like a retarded monkey is not a good solution.
3) Strip magazine.
4) Now is the time to run the CH. Jammed rounds fall out thru magwell.
5) Let CH run forward. If it doesn't return fully forward goto step 4.
6) Insert magazine.
7) Run CH to load from fresh mag.

I haven't had any of these failures since I learned to fully seat mags and pull harded to make sure they are seated.

Hmm, I sold mine for $1700 about two years ago (to help fund another purchase) and was very happy to get that. I think in the long run these will be pretty collectible due to their rather interesting design.
