I take it this is one of those tools for non-permissive environments? Or is it that 7.62x39 is easier to get OCONUS than 5.56?

I find it interesting that this rifle wears AZ sourced plastic. I also find the timing of the release of Magpul's poly AK mags makes them well positioned to be a/the OEM supplier of poly mags for this rifle, IF it is ever sold domestically, and IF there isn't already some kind of OEM agreement with Jeff Cahill.

I was looking at a larger, blown up pic last night. The upper appears to be from the 901, having the larger/longer ejection port required for 7.62/.308. The errornet has a lot of talk of the KAC SR-47 having fouling issues with DI when run with crappy Asian ammo. This rifle having a piston over a DI system appears to be pure conjecture at this point but would be a solution to the previously mentioned KAC SR-47 "problem". Regardless, I find the rifle an interesting proposition. Put a 10.5" barrel on it and send it my way!

Yeah, we heard about this from Colt long ago, but I'm not sure this is it. The upper and stock in this pic are a LE901, and the ammo loaded in the mags appears to be .308, but the curvature of the mag he's shooting appears to be for 7.62x39. Maybe this is a hybrid prototype.
