Hey guys, I was looking at different ballistic tables and want to make sure I am understanding them right.

It seems that with an AK47 sighted in at 300 meters, the bullet will hit 8" high at 100 yards. Is that correct?

If not, what is the correct figure assuming regular 124gr FMJ at whatever velocity is standard for that weight :o

Thanks.

I will tell you what I see and then give you my opinion.
I would zero it on the 100 meter marker and then if you want the 300 meter battle zero you pull the rear sight all the way back and it will raise it up for the battle setting.
My personal opinon the AK round drops so much after the 200 yard mark it is kind of rediculous. It is not like the 5.56, 6.8 or .308 that drop all about a foot from a 100 yard zero, it drops like feet
Use the AK at 100 yards and maybe 200 just push up the rear sight but after that-meh
Oh and the 5.45 has great ballistics compared the 7.62x39 alsojust FYI

A 300 yd zero is more like 6.5" high at 100, max ord is about 9", though.

a 100yd zero puts you about 19 inches low at 300.

a 200 yd zero puts you just over 2 inches high at 100, max ord under 3" high, and 12" low at 3.

This all depends on DA and which ammo you are using, but these are basic figures.

I zero 2" high at 100 with an AK with optics, and zero irons dead on at 100 with the sight on "1", then put the sight on "2" to run. Keeps you inside a head with no aim over/under past 200, and then you just start aiming high. Head holds at 300 will land you in the chest.

After 300, you're pushing it, but I can wear out an E-type pretty well at 500 with Russian ammo and an ACOG w/ 7.62x39 BDC.

Only thing is, at that range, if the target moves 25 yards closer or further away, the POI difference is about 12"/25 yards.
