thread necro, but just saw this... Picked up 200 rounds about a month ago and while the cases/OAL, etc. check out w/a large(ish) random sample, I haven't fired any of it yet...

Will try this weekend...

I will say they had about the fastest shipping I've ever seen.

Well, when I pulled the ammo out of the safe last night, I remembered the reloads I bought were from Ventura Munitions, not Freedom Munitions. My mistake...

Regardless, here's a quick comparison of that ammo and some Hornady factory loads that I shot this morning. Cross-posted from another site:

Finally got around to doing a heads-up competition between some Hornady factory 110gr V-Max 300BLK cartridges vs. some reloads from Ventura Munitions that use the same bullet.

They look almost identical except the Ventura Munitions produced cartridge seems to seat the bullet just a hair deeper...

5-shot groups from a bench @100 yards with the rifle hand guard supported on a sand bag, used 20-rd PMag for all these rounds.

Factory Hornady loads:

clearly had breath control issues for this group...probably due to my frustrations with consistent failure to feed malfunctions w/the factory loads (see below):

Ventura Munitions reloads using the same 110gr V-Max bullets:

Long story short...I was actually very, very surprised but the VM reloads shot better (for me) than the factory loads. This was probably due to the fact that the factory Hornady loads consistently failed to feed.

Every. single. round.

I'd take a shot, pull the trigger again and "click"...nothing. I'd "slap, rack, fire" and it'd shoot just fine...charge the weapon via the charging handle and repeat. They fed just fine using the charging handle but wouldn't feed on their own. They "seemed" to work fine out of a 30-rd PMag when I just shot a few rounds from ~ 50 yards to make sure the rifle was functioning properly, but not the 20-rd Mag I typically use for bench shooting with the rifle propped up on sand bags.

Zero malfunctions w/the supposedly identical Ventura Munitions loads...same rifle, same magazine, etc. Of note, the factory loads all kicked out between 4-5 O'clock position and the reloads all kicked out between 1-2 O'clock; don't know if that's significant or not.

I'll try some GI mags next time to see if it's the magazine but suspect it's something w/the round itself. Too light of a charge w/the factory Hornady loads maybe?

Bottom line is that both rounds are very accurate...better than my shooting today...but I need to figure out why I had consistent failure to feed malfunctions today w/the factory Hornady rounds.
