I just got back from the range and I have discovered 2 problems. First after shooting about 5 rounds out of my Springfield Lightweight Champion Operator the Wilson Combat Extended Slide Release is coming out just enough for the slide to eject the round but onces it starts to chamber a round it gets stuck. Do I have to get it fitted by a gunsmith or should I just give Wilson Combat a call?

The second problem is that my Surefire X200 is a little lose. It's not to were it effects turning on the Surefire but it is enough for me to notice it. Anyone have any idea why it could be doing this and how to fix it.

do you have the picatinny "P" marked insert installed on your light? The universal "U" piece is a bit smaller and might be the cause of the loose fit.

The only time I've seen the slide stop issue you have is when a lefty shot my 1911 (his support hand pushed on the slide stop pin and worked it out of the frame a bit, locking up the gun).

Good luck getting it sorted out!

I do have the P marked insert. I just talked to Surefire and they are going to send me all new mounting pieces. So good looks on Surefire customer service. Thanks for the info.

Who installed your WC slide release? If memory serves me right, Wilson usually slightly over-sizes their parts and some smithing is usually required. It also sounds as if too much material was removed from the slide release during fitting.

Wilson has top-notch customer support, so I'd suggect you call them (800-955-4856)....they are the experts!

Added: I just looked in the catalog and it does state minor fitting may be required. Pretty much the story for most 1911 parts, if you want it to run correctly!

IMO, put the stock slide STOP back in. As for the Surefire, loosen the 4 (or 6 depending on the age of your light) and squeeze both mounting rails until they are tight on the frame. It might not happen and it's not the lights fault. SA uses a slightly different size rail on the LW guns. I've read this multiple times, one reason I skipped the LW 5" railed gun.

Those extended slide stops are garbage, and on top of that the slide stop needs to be fit.

Hilton Yam at 10-8 Forums has put the technical info behind the extended slide stop's shortcomings out if you're interested.
