Hey guys,

Does anyone know about Specialized Armaments Mars 1911s? A local dealer has a few but I know nothing about them. I am going to check them out Wed. afternoon.

Steve Morrison, who is a member here, is now a part of the Specialized Armament team. Specialized Armament acquired MARS armament, and if the 1911's your dealer had were worked on by Steve Morrison, from what I have seen, they are much more than just colts. I would love to have a MARS 1911. I have 4 of their Gen II MSH's on my 1911's

Perhaps you could give us some more details about the 1911's and where you are located.

Also, MM did a review of their 1911 work on his site. MARS did some custom work on his 1991 that looked top shelf.

That's like saying a Chuck Rogers gun is "just a Springfield" or a Larry Vickers gun is "just a Caspian".

MARS guns are nice, and offer a lot of great, unique features. I would take one any day.

I would buy a Steve Morrison built gun in a heartbeat.

He is a damn good man with a great reputation in the industry. I did not know that MARS Armament had teamed up with Specialized Armament though, but it makes sense. Steve has always preferred to use Colt base guns. Plus they have a mutual friend.

I didn't know about the MARS connection. I only knew about the stock Colts.

I had a chance to take a close look today. For those that are interested, they are in Scottsdale, AZ. at USAutoweapons. There website is www.usautoweapons.com. The two 1911's are NOT on there website as of last night. I am not affiliated with them in any way.

MARS Model O

Parkerized .45acp
$2395.00
Carbon fiber trigger
scalloped frontstrape and mainspring with lanyard loop
crowned colt barrel
STI beavertail safety
Heinie rear sight with Novak tritium front
NO front cocking serrations
Slide to frame was slightly loose

They also had a Stainless MARS Model O .38 Super. Not sure of the price.

I like the Parked .45 version, but it was missing a few things that I like on my 1911's. Mainly the front cocking serrations and magwell. Not really a big deal, but for that kind of money one should get what they want even for a little more added to the price.

I remember you posting that. I like it. I like how the frame turned out but don't care for the two tone look but otherwise, looks very nice.

It looked like the THUG, but they called it something like:

MARS Model O Base Gun

But it looked exactly like the THUG in the picture above.

Marsguns...hmm for some reason this sounds familiar.

Was this operation ever in Utah? I recall meeting Marsguns at a Crossroads gun show like a year ago.

the two-tone finish was what i requested - steve will do it however you please, and will also offer suggestions on what kind of finish would work best for your needs. steve is great to work with - he'll build what you want, but also has the experience to know what works and doesn't, and will let you know if your choices might not be the best.
