Is there even a consensus if the v1 model is robust enough for serious use?
I'm guessing you have no experience with them if you are asking this in a serious way.

Ive only handled one briefly and I only use BCM GFs on my personal guns so thats why Im asking. I looked at the previous raptor threads and only found first impression reviews on them so Im just seeing if anythings changed in long term impressions.

Gtfo.
V1 latch/handles are steel. V2 are aluminum.

I got mine in the first shipment summer last year. Been using it almost every week since, no problems at all. As far as I'm concerned, the raptor is the only charging handle on the after market.
I know two of them are a small sample but both of mine have worked great. Wonderful design

Being left-handed, I love my Raptor.
Here's a rare view of an early Raptor with solid latches ;) The production model is more robust and has fewer parts than the prototype.

I kicked the crap out of my prototype Raptor, the prototype held up beautifully.
Our strong relationship with AXTS and Rainier Arms notwithstanding, we've been a big advocate for the Raptor, this is a superbly designed and manufactured product.

It has wings.
It does, no markings though, I was given it to T&E and told it wasn't available yet for commercial purchase.
These "guys" both run rapters. ;)

Mine also lacks markings, but was commercial.

Cool, I have never seen them without markings, except for the one I have.

Thanks
I have one I have used and plan on using another soon. I also have BCM MOD 44's as well. Between the Raptor and Gunfighter there is no need for any other handle.

THIS!!!!
I also own and run both but I think the Raptor is the clear winner. Now, if my AXTS lower ever gets here.....
Is weight the only reason for this revision? I would think the steel would be more durable..
The Raptor beats the BCM Ambi...I run both. And actually the BCM Ambi is in my HD rifle. There is nothing wrong with it functionally, I just prefer the larger latches and greatness of the Raptor.
If weight reduction and material change of latches is all, I think I will stay with the v1 with steel latches. I love mine.

Agreed!
I could be wrong but the latch material was switched to aluminum awhile ago. We will have to wait for an official word from Rainier Arms to reveal the actual changes.

When I purchased my Raptors last year RA told me they had the new aluminum latches.

They started making the aluminum latches in late 2011 or early 2012 if I recall correctly. Im not sure the V.2 is actually a "new" model.

I'm pretty sure the raptor first came out less than a year ago, not two years ago.

I think its been a year today.
I was told that there were few steel latch raptors released compared to aluminum ones, and that the aluminum ones have been out there for a while.
i have both the raptor and the bcm charging handles and have to say that i like the raptor better. thats not saying that bcm doesnt make a quality CH, its just the raptor is better designed IMO

I am still waiting on one that will fit my S&W M&P 10 in 308. Anyone heard of such a thing?

I know nothing about the 308 AR's, but I think this is made specifically for them.
Out of stock for now.
