I bought this from a local guy that claims this BCG is made by Daniel Defense and was bought from Brownells. My question is, shouldn't their be some type of marking info the bolt or carrier as to quality?

DD only started laser marking their logo on BCG within the last couple years. I have two that came in DD carbines (purchased directly from them) without the logo...

There's really no way to tell. I hope it works for you but in the future you probably shouldn't buy used BCGs unless they're marked.

Contact DD and ask if they used YFS screws in their BCG's. I don't think they did, but I may be wrong.

I recently looked into this on M4C and other sites (sorry, didn't save any links). My understanding is that "older" DD BCGs lacked logos, but it was not clear to me whether or not older DD bolts had MP or HPT markings. Newer (last 2-3 years?) BCs have an etched DD on the BC and bolt markings.

I looked into this after someone in my home town listed an unfired "BCM" BCG for sale on our local gun exchange website for $150. Photos weren't great but I decided to check it out. His BC lacked a BCM logo and the bolt had zero markings. Also, the bolt face was pristine. It clearly had never been HPT. Obviously not a BCM BCG. Superficially everything (staking, screws, key, chrome lining, etc.) looked fine. In my search I read that early BCM BCs shipped with complete uppers may not have been marked, but that the bolts were always appropriately marked. The guy said he bought it off the website in the past 6 months. Just didn't add up, so I passed.

I considered the possibility that what the guy had was an older DD BCG ordered from the BCM website when DD bolts were in stock. I concluded that this was very unlikely and not worth the uncertainty.

Yesterday, I snagged a BCM BCG from Grant. Peace of mind.

FWIW, but by no means a definite solution, here is a pic of a recent PSA bcg I had for a little bit: same style gas key and the yfs screws. Definitely night and day compared to SilverBullet's pics of his DD bcg

This is a pic of the gas key on my old un-marked DD BCG. The screws are un-marked and the key isn't MIM as yours appears to be. My bolt is un-marked as well. Mine came in a white cardboard tube from DD.

That is not a Daniel Defense carrier.
I've never seen them use cheap fasteners or metal injection molded gas keys.

Best case scenario is that it's a Lewis Machine & Tool carrier.
Worst case is that it is an AR Stoner brand carrier.

Either way, the seller was not honest.

Negative. DD bolts are un-marked in ANY WAY. I just got one 3 weeks ago straight from DD in a complete gun. Carrier has the logo lasered, bolt is un-marked in any way what-so-ever. The staking on the key is artwork and VERY heavy without tearing/smearing. It blows OP's staking picture away.

SilverBullet432 might as well have stolen my BCG and taken pictures of it. They are identical.

My DD BCG uses un-marked screws.
The rail uses YFS screws.

Hard to tell on a phone but I agree, it does look like tbaker's PSA BCG.

SilverBullet, no, wasn't trying to say anything was wrong with yours, was trying to relate to the OP that his situation with the mim gas key and yfs screws looked more like my PSA bcg than your DD bolt; in other words most likely that the OP didn't get a DD bcg. Just posted the photo to support comments about the yfs screws.

o yes, i did do some research on that and found that PSA and LMT do use the injection molded key. i do believe that it is NOT a DD BCG. OP: you might want to get on that guy's case, or maybe he himself isnt aware of this carriers brand ?

Exactly how my circa 2009 DD BCG looks. Unmarked screws, non-MIM key, No markings on carrier, No markings on bolt.

Thanks for all the posts, my fears were confirmed with the pictures of no marked/logo dd bcg's. The seller is taking the BCG back. Lesson learned the hard way! Don't rush greatness.

G & R still has BCM BCGs in stock if you need one now. They've been becoming available quite regularly lately.

If you can find one in stock, the msrp on a daniel defense bcg is $189.00

This.
I recently bought a used BCM and I made the seller jump through hoops to prove it was BCG was BCM (it was Nickel Boron'd). Luckily I know he smith that NiB'd it so I was comfortable buying it.

ETA, that's great the seller agreed to take back the carrier and didn't just run.

Same here with a DD BCG I got from Grant in 2009.
