FYI, on a lark I put in an order for CCI #41 primers at Graf & Sons — they're one of the few places accepting backorders on primers.

I placed the order on the 16th, and they're shipping today. I'm astounded, overjoyed.

I just posted a link to Graf & Sons in the "where can I get it thread...not sure if it was supposed to go there?". They show CCI 5.56 NATO-SPEC primers in stock right now.

Primer prices are too high right now... as much as $50 dollars per 1k delivered. I'd only be a buyer if I was VERY VERY desperate.

The #41's are typically more expensive than standard SRPs, correct?

That too. I've never tried any of those come to think of it.

Yes, they are traditionally more expensive, however as MarkM stated the prices are still to high unless you are really needing them. I'll stick with the regular SRP for lower cost & wait until the prices and supplies return to some semblance of the pre-panic prices.

I don't need any. I've been sitting on 5k of the #41s for awhile but I couldn't remember how much I paid. I just remember that they were slightly more than the others.

Don't think it will be much longer before primers are back, just last week my local bass pro had 14 bricks of CCI No.500 at $37.99, and about 8 bricks CCI small rifle.
I was in a very popular LGS today and he had 2 bricks and a broken brick of No.41 at $59.95. So the hoarding seems to be slowing down, at least hoarding at premium prices. But it was good to see product on the shelf and have them say that for the last 2 weeks when they restock 5.56 there is still some on the shelf from the last restock.

Look better at least.....

Ours had the 500s too. No one even looking at them. I picked up 1k for loading those 45 cases that have small pistol primer pockets.

Ok so what the hell is up with Wolf primers? I've had a backorder with Graf's since 12/18 for some and they haven't gotten ANY foreign made primers in over 6 months! According to the girl I spoke with yesterday, there's been no Wolf, Tula, or Magtech, but they're starting to see all the American made stuff come in again.

My LGS has the #41s for $40/k. Is that a good price?

I paid a total of $420 for 10,000 with shipping & HazMat.

That's 4.2¢ per primer, but an extra half cent per round or so isn't going to make or break me...

I'm not desperate, but I'm new to reloading .223, I need SRPs, and my peace of mind (that I'm using the correct primers) is worth a little bit more.

Now if I could just find some bullets and powder...

I think the last primers I bought Pre-school shooting were maybe $32/K at LGS. I believe brand was CCI.

Something must be about to break loose or is in process. PSA has bulk unclean brass in cans this weekend for nearly $50 off. $90 - $100 for what was $120 - $150. .45 - 9mm - .223 other .cals as well.

I dunno. Everything is still really scarce, and what's out there is expensive.

In the good old days, I used to bargain hunt, and I'd order just what I wanted in powder and primers and combine shipping, etc. etc. etc. Now I'm just happy to buy primers at 25% more than "normal" prices.

I was shocked that Graf & Sons sent my primers so fast... It was really off-putting not to be able to backorder them anywhere else (though Sinclair's/Brownell's was also accepting backorders).

I just came back from Scheels (a large sporting good store) & they 10s of thousands of all sizes of primers. Small, large, pistol, rifle, shotgun, magnum & standard... everything! It was good to see for a change. Mostly Winchesters but they had some CCI & Remington. They were tad on the pricey side, ranging from 32-44 per 1k. I think they were asking $44 for the #41s. At least they're available in case anyone from central WI is interested.
They also had a ton of pistol caliber projos in all the popular sizes.

That's not too bad for the current market.

That's probably the cheapest I've seen 41s in a while. Back in January I ordered a bunch of Federal 55 FMJs and 41s from Pat's Reloading and drove out to Ohio to pick them up. Paid cash and did the math afterwards, if I paid the listed price for the FMJs, then he only charger me $26 per k of the 41s...I did a little dance...

CCI #41's were going for $50 at one of the Gun Shows in Nashville several months ago. CCI 450 Magnum primers were non-existent.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so I don't have much alternative to buying online. Anyway, is that $40 with tax, or plus sales tax? LOL...

Yeah, that's why I posted it — after I got mine!

And again, I wasn't desperate (yet), but they were worth $42.-/1,000 to me, which isn't much more than I would normally pay (including shipping + HazMat).

Desperate for me was dipping below 20,000 Small Rifle. But Pappabear came through with a 3000 primer cushion from Bruno's here in AZ.

Now we're in the dog days of summer and not shooting as much 223.

The most I ever paid for 1000 primers was 25$. I think when my supply dwindles, that number is going to go up.

That's funny getting desperate below 20K primers...:D
Are you loading for yourself and your cronies, you could not be shooting all the ammo you talk about reloading yourself...could you?

Pappabear and I. We burn about 300 rounds each weekend.

I went long in Wolf Primers when they were $19 per thousand delivered. I wish I could invest in the real world with such luck. ;)

A vendor at the local gun shows around me has Wolf by the metric shit ton at $40 per k.

Wouldn't happen to be ammunitionstore(dot)com would it? They're the only ones that I know of that have them in stock...and that's not from new shipments.

No, they had some off the wall name, I have their card at home. They just started getting the Wolf primers in recently. I bought a bunch of 9mm 147gr HST off of them a few months ago. Only place I could find that had them...
