Here are my three builds...

The top rifle was built from a Colt SP1 Parts Kit. The upper receiver
barrel, triangular hand guards, A1 flash hider, A1 butt stock, and A1
pistol grip came with it. Pretty much everything sans the lower receiver
and bolt carrier group. Got a Core-15 stripped lower and a DPMS LPK
and built it along with a Colt BCG. Over all investment in the rifle was
under $425. I paid $125 for the Colt SP1 kit. Slapped a Spec-Ops pare
mag pouch and a set of A2 hand guards that I had lying around.
Eventually planning to swap out the hand guard with a Magpul MOE set
and give the rifle a light setup similar to the 16 inch carbine I built that’s on the bottom right of the photo. Also want to get a goose mount and co-witness a red-dot optic of some sort.
The bottom left rifle started life as a commercial Colt AR-14A3 (Model
6721) that my father got me as a gift back during the dark days of
Clinton’s AWB. He got it through department letter head and it was my
going away gift for my enlistment into the US Army. That rifle has
changed over the years. The only thing original to it is the buffer tube,
upper and lower receiver, and the LPK. Sent BATFE a Form 1 and got it
approved on my Father’s Birthday of all days for them to approve it on
(real special meaning to me especially since this was a gift from him).
Put a 11.5 inch HBAR barrel and new BCG to go with it, Young Mfg.
front sight/gas block combo, ARMS SIR Rail, N-Cell Eotech, ARMS 40L
BUIS, Magpul ASAP Sling Plate, LMT SOPMOD Stock, Lone Star Grip, a
chopped Redi-Mag, and Magpul BAD Lever.
The rifle on the bottom right was a build from left over parts from the
SBR project. The BCG, HBAR barrel, and front sight block came from the Colt 6721. Built this one on a Spike’s 2008 AR15.Com Special Edition Lower that I found in a pawn shop for $50.00. It’s marked .22LR but it’s a standard AR lower. The upper is a Spike’s also that I picked up from a friend for $30. Used a DPMS LPK and bought the upper parts
individually from MAPARTS since I also had some upper parts sitting in my box of loose crap. At first I wanted to do a quasi retro XM-177 build but changed my mind; hence the A1 style forward assist. So in the end I pretty much rebuilt the Colt 6721 except used a Magpul MOE hand guard and CTR stock. Also used another N-Cell Eotech and a Magpul MBUS. BCG was from DPMS. This one also wears the slide fire stock.
